Loving that mount. I though batteries had to be enclosed when relocated to the trunk. ??

Only if you have to pass a tech inspection at the track. You would also need an external disconnect at the rear of the car. IF you are going to the track.

IHRA and NHRA require a battery box but maybe the road race rules don't require it-or they may have added a rear firewall.

Then get a Motorcraft battery or a decent one from any parts store. You don't need a damn Optima just to start your fucking car.
As much as I rrespect your right to you're own opinion I disagree. Having an OPTIMA redtop will give me peace and security of knowning my stang will start come Hell or high water for years to come each and EVERY time.

No it wont, Optima is trash now. They were bought out 2007 ish by Johnson Controls and their plant was moved to Mexico, used to be built in the US. Everyone here is trying to save you money and heartache when it fails, which it will do and will happen at the worst possible time.

Good luck on it starting every time. I went through 3 red top Optima's in 2007 and 2008 in my fox body before giving up on them. I had to get someone to jump start me in the staging lanes more than a few times. I thought it was something to do with my relocated battery, grounding, or the big draw from the high compression-it wasn't. For testing purposes, I put in a 12 year old AGM battery that I had in an old Audi that was rarely driven (500 CCA or something fairly weak like that) and I couldn't believe how it ripped to life the first time I turned the key. Bought a regular battery and didn't have another problem.
I won't touch another optima ever again.

I hear you and I fully understand, My Outlaw Sally battery died yesterdy left me stranded at the grocery store, I pulled the trigger on a Retop and we'll just have to see how it goes. Its fully guaranteed for three years so I can get a FREE replacement. I think it should be fine since my cars just a daily.

Some have to learn the hard way.

Well my papa always did say there no better way to learn then to do it.....LOL So i'm going to try this Redtop Optima Battery and see for myself if its a POS. Then I'll know for sure however it might just surprise both of us and last awhile we'll see.

Don’t disagree, I have had a yellow top for 4 years and it is fine, car starts. But I’ll replace it with an optima again and if that fails I will have learned my lesson

All Batteries appear to be shit now days, I've gone thru 3 Interstates in my E250 in the last couple years, one lasted 11 months, the one before it was like 15 months. Granted I also run a wheelchair lift off them as well, but my factory battery lasted 7 years. Only reason I kept with the Interstates is the guy I get em from pro rates them and I have had them replaced for basically nothing. It really pays to have a guy you can trust like that! I maybe pay a bit more for the Battery up front, but sure saves me a lot of headaches.

And that right there, the chair lift, is one reason to chose a deep cycle battery vs a standard starting battery.

Why, what difference does it make? Wouldn't you only run the lift while engine is running, using the generator to power the lift versus the battery? Even a convertible roof is best operated with a running engine.

It is about how far you can discharge a battery before causing cell damage and shortening battery life.
A starting battery is not supposed to be discharged past 80% capacity. Sure it can be discharged past that, but it sucks life out of the battery.
A deep cycle battery can be discharged down to 20% capacity. Big design difference.

I have a deep cycle. My previous van had a dual battery system that had a motorcycle battery as the 2nd battery and a switch on the kneeboard to chose which to use to start the vehicle.

Wouldn't you only run the lift while engine is running, using the generator to power the lift versus the battery?
My current van is a 2003 with no remote start, I have to get in it before I can start it, thus the lift is run off the battery almost every time I get in or out of it. Winter my wife will often times start it for me to warm it up.
