You forgot the lash adjusters and cam followers. The upgraded followers are supposed to improve oil control and do redirect the flow of oil. There is a solenoid on each head that drives the variable cam position. The solenoids have screens that can get plugged and restrict oil flow. Easy to replace.
You missed a great opportunity to replace and even upgrade the oil pump to a hi-volume pump.

Fortunately I plan on going in again once the budgets increased because the plan for the car has been cams from the get go. I intend on handling all of the problematic stuff first just hoping the oil pump lasts long enough to where I can do it all at the same time.

A Hi-Volume oil pump and pickup would be my first priority. Then the cam set you prefer with new followers and lash adjusters. Do not install new cams with your old, warn lash adjusters and followers. If the cams you chose require springs, purchase the springs that are recommended and install them at the same time as the cams. You will need a proper “tune” with the cams. This is nonnegotiable.

Yep this definitely seems like the plan. At this point I’m suspicious the noise I’m hearing is a heat shield for the cats or something because it sounds very similar to the cooling down noises after shutting it off.
