Not sure what happened but recently my trunk ajar notice won't go away no matter what I do. Trunk is shut with no issues. Can open and close like normal I believe. It's a 05 GT. Maybe something is old or worn out?

Does the light inside the trunk stay on when you push the little button on the inside of the lid? I'm not sure where the display gets its input for it being open but I would wager it comes from the same button.

Warnings get sent via CAN. Its the sjb or there is a switch in the latch. I believe the trunk inside light is not part of that circuit. I did not look up the schematic.
Original cluster to the car?

Make sure your deck lid closes tight. If not, there is some adjustment to it, IIRC. The switch next to the latch possibly failed.

If there is no adjustment on that switch it needs replacement.

Put something under it (rubber stopper) and close the trunk as a test...

The hood switch and trunk switches for the alarm are most exposed to the elements so they will fail. When they do, you get the false alarm that the hood or trunk is open - and the theft alarm goes off randomly as well. Easy part to replace thankfully.

... just thinking. For the moment, or even forever - why not bypassing the switch with a simple wire ? Only downside I can see.. IF the trunk is open...there is no warning light on the dash.

Or just unplug it right? If the trunk is open, the switch is closed to turn the light on.. if you unplug it then it'll never close, light never comes on and the car just assumes it's never open.

I unplugged the light and the switch. Still shows trunk ajar. I think it needs to be looped if I was going to bypass it. I plan to visit the scrap yard and see what they all have going on

The switch ..is a "breaker".. so If you open the trunk.. we have two possibilities the switch opens..or closes. I think the switch closes the ciruit...in this case you need to connect the in and the out going wire.
