I just checked my car. Engine off and cold, key on, I got a similar click about 30 seconds later. Then another a little while late. Then a third. Could be something doing an initial self check or calibrating.
There is only a few things under the hood that make noise/move.
I doubt its the a/c clutch.

If the car wasn't running, its 99.99999% certain it is not a rocker or adjuster.
Had the car been running prior to recording? If not, 100% its not rocker or adjuster.
Make sure your hvac is all set to 'off'. There is only a couple things under the hood that might make that noise.
That was after I had driven the car down the road and back but 5 or so minutes after

The purge valve operates intermittently. Failure modes can include rapid clicking or no clicking. Unplug it and see if the click goes away.

If you unplug it, you'll likely get a code, but it should go away after plugging it back in. Probably the same with the vct solenoids. I don't know how fast the pcm will read that and throw a code.
Should go away on the next start up or several.

Well, I did hear it about 30 seconds after key on. And it was a lighter click, like a switch or relay, not like I would expect a rocker.

so i unplugged purge valve got no codes, noise still happened i drove car just a little short distance, came back and then opened hood immediately and was just touching my hands around to see if i could feel any reverb out of curiousity and i felt one on the vct solenoid each time the noise happened i felt it not sure what that could indicate but it seems like its pointing in a direction.

I'll be pulling off the cover this week end but just figured ide feel around again to see if it is anything obvious i didnt unplug the VCT because i worried that it might cause some strange engine running but it seems like it might be linked to the issue.

Don't understand cams look ok to me, felt the lobes didn't feel anything out of place. Ideas ? I checked the rockers nothing felt like it was not functioning properly. I might try running it tomorrow with the cover off to check.

If you have a rocker bearing going out, you won't be able to feel it without taking them out and spinning the bearings.

I'm thinking it has to be a rocker bearing nothing else could randomly make a noise like what I hear I feel but at the same time. Why would it pop when it's cooling off. Either way, need to diagnose it before it causes any actual damage.

The engine off .. no way it's a roller follower ..
It makes no sense how it could click when the engine isn't on?
Unless the pressure of the cam lobe pressing the roller follower makes it kick or move once the compression bleed off some?

I'd still remove the valve covers just to be sure u won't destroy the engine . But it seems odd it does it with the engine off ..

To be safe id remove the valve covers and hand crank the engine and just make sure the roller followers are sitting still and nothing is amiss
LOL I have fluid build up in my ears at times and I thought the engine was running in that video :Big Laugh: Sorry for the error.
Looking at them photos, is that metal particles on the cam on photo 4 from the top? On photo 5 the top roller in the photo looks like the polished surface has gone on it? I had one the same and noticed it while stripping the engine for another reason. I just got it in time before it started marking the cam lobe. i have a picture of it some where and will post it if i can find it.

You see the slight marking starting on the cam where the new roller is fitted but this roller was not making any noises yet and felt only very slightly rougher turning than the new roller.

I might just do them all to be sure while i have it apart. this is what i noticed so far the roller looks like it has a worn mark on it.
