I cut the oil filter and inspect the oil and filter everytime I change it. There was no metal in it Friday. Fresh mobile one added.

Billy my oil is always dark and I change it often but the breathers contaminate the oil fast.

Check the oil pump yet?

nope...but it's coming. I looked up at it when I took the pick up off...I did not see any pipeces and no metal chunks anywhere including pan, no oil light no codes tripped..I'm betting the pump is in tact. although I will be looking for that link to the billet gears during the rebuild...who has the link?

Wow, so what the hell happened? Whats up with #2 and #7? Did you loose two rod bearings I guess?

thanks...
I have spent the day thinking about why it would have spun a bearing asided from all the stupid shit like contamination, contaminated oil bla bla bla. Of course #1 thing will be to see about the pump gears...but THEN I got some info today about the possibility of the bearings being bad...like as in street bearings....Boy now I can wait to get it apart....

Really sorry to hear about this Joe. I know it sucks royally...:handjob:

I'm going to send you a PM with some info I think you will find useful when I get done typing this. Forget the billet gears - I have a better solution.

Make sure you have your heads inspected before bolting them back on. It is very possible they may have also been effected.

I have to tell ya - if it makes you feel any better - what I have learned over the past 3 weeks working with Rich Groh and Justin Burcham is more than I have known (or 'thought' I have known) over the past four years. More than half the stuff flying around the internet regarding what parts are needed to support bigger 3V power levels are a crock IMO.

I'll include some more info in the PM. Again, sorry for the mishap - I know how you feel brother...:beerchug2:

Did you build your short block? You think that they sent you the wrong bearings?

OK guys
I can see the oil pump gear is broken...I can see it up in the hole after removing the pickup. I dont think it had a catastrophic failure because it did not come out into the pan.And there is oil in all the lines. But several bearing are gaulded. Even on rods that dont look like they got hot; they still got some material smeared on them. I just took a few off from the bottom. That makes me worry about the heads and NEW cams.
Jim at THP has agreed to inspect and clean the turbo for me.

I am going to send my heads to Ron at fox lake and have him inspect/repair as needed and go ahead and remove my livernois springs and put the better springs in. Been wanting to do that anyway. I hope the heads and BRAND new cams are OK!
Well I have kept my mouth closed as all these pumps and motors failed thinking it would jinx me if I opened my mouth and said " I have never had a problem with mine.....but for the record it's an MMR motor and crio oil pump with about 100 passes and at least 50 dyno pulls on it. It has about 4000 miles on it.
