Yes - take your wife's turkey baster and evacuate the fluid into a container. Then quickly wash and return the turkey baster to the kitchen prior to her finding out. Refill with Mercon V fluid. Works like a charm.

I unbolted the reservoir and loosened up the smaller hose first, removed the hose and let the fluid drain into a big can. Then same with the big hose. There will be fluid in the reservoir still, so be prepared to catch it.

Thats a good idea, i can just stick a 1 gal bucket under it and let the res drain and let the excess from the tubes drain into the bucket, that should do her. Im gonna go to home depot and find some barbs and some hose, looks like i need 1/2" for the smaller one and 3/4" for the bigger and a little L bracket to mount it and tackle this project tommorow.

^^^what he said^^^

Except that I am the head chef in the house so she didn't have much say so in the turkey baster arguement.

Those are the right size hose unions. You can take some needle nose vice grip pliers to pinch off the top of the lines so fluid doesnt come out while your moving them around. Or hose pliers if you have them

You can also get a bolt of the right diameter and shove it into the end of the hose to keep the fluid in check while you move everything around. Of course you'll lose a little fluid doing this, but you won't have to totally drain it.

Well i just measuered the hoses with a tape measure, the larger one is exactly 1 inch wide and the smaller is in between 5/8 and 3/4 inch so i need that size hose and 3/8 and 3/4 barbs i believe might take a little trial and error well off to the depot to find some stuff do i need special rubber hose for the brake fluid as well. Like fuel/oil transmission hose?

Is it okay to use a nylon barb? I couldn'y find a 3/4" brass barb anywhere, checked lowes, home depot, autozone, pepboys and advanced auto. So i ordered a brass one from pep boys. And went with a nylon 3/4" barb. Will it be okay till i switch it out?

I was thinking the nylon plastic might deteriate but then again the power sterring res itself is plastic.

If there is one in your area, try ACE hardware for your barb fittings. They usually have a complete assortment of hose, tubing and pipe fittings.
