Had the car dyno's today with a 4th gear pull and it topped out at 289 hp/306tq. The car was 247hp/260tq stock so there is a 40/40 gain after a JLT intake/tune, UD pullies, 410 gears, alum d/s, BBK 62mm TB and the Steeda CDMP plugs. I am very happy to have solved the loss of tq issue and the numbers.

Now for spring and a set of DR's to see how it does at the track!

Only change was doing the run in 4th gear vice 3rd.

Hind sight is 20/20, but werent there a few guys that said that in your other thread? Your 40/40 gain is right on par. And Im not sure why your guy dynoed it in third gear anyway? Im not sure there is any advantage to it tuning wise, but I am certainly no expert..

Very true and here is why it was done in 3rd; when the JLT intake/tune was put on the car had 331 gears. According the dyno operaator the car would not put enough of a load in 4th gear with the 331 gears which is why it was dyno'd in 3rd gear in the first place. This was the first automatic that JLT had used his kit on/had a tune for so he learned from this.

Since the original run was in 3rd gear to get an apples to apples comparison after all the bolt ons it was run in 3rd gear on Monday.

So the lessons learned are to have your tuner lock out the TC so the car can be run in 4th gear..but...if person just wants to dyno their car without a tuner to see what the numbers are it will be done in 3rd gear since that is the only gear that will not mess with the TC but also will not give accurate numbers.

I'm pretty sure mine was dyno'd in 3rd gear and I cant remember the torque but HP was was 280. I just have a JLT CAI and 4.10 gears.

Don't the auto's have the tcs on off button on the dash like the 5spd's? You shouldn't need a tuner at all. To dyno stock or otherwise just push the tcs off button and do it in 4th gear.

TCS is traction control. You are thinking of the overdrive button. That will just keep you outa 5th. The problem is at the mph your going in drive on the dyno in 4th gear is too low and when you go wot the the tranny downshifts to third. You can use the tuner to set the 4-3 downshift mph really low that way the car is rolling on the dyno faster than the downshift speed and the car wont downshift and stay in 4th for the pull.

No I'm thinking of the tcs button. In the 5spd's its on the dash by the 4 way's button and has to be turned off to run on the dyno.

Ok makes sense that when you stab the throttle it would want to downshift. :thumb2:

Ive never turned off traction control for a dyno pull, i have a manual.

How would traction control off keep an auto out of a gear?

Weird. On a dynojet? I've done easily 20 runs on one and the tcs had to be off everytime or the car wouldn't roll.

It wouldn't. It was a mistake on my part the op said the tc needed to be locked out in the tune and i missread it as tcs instead of torque converter.

Did Jay Tucker tune your car for you?

I would turn the traction control off just to avoid having the computer pull timing or killing the throttle on a pull. I have never see it happen before, but I do it anyway.

I have made dyno pulls 2 different times (automatic) at HPP racing and they always did the pulls in 4th gear, don't understand the 3rd gear thing. once was with the stock gears and the second time was sith 4.10's

I was told the same thing about TCS, that unless it was off the car would sense the spin from the rollers and shut down.
