Short and Sweet ...

I have flowmaster a/b now ... chambers are rusting out like hell ... i need something new ...

i have watched thousands of vids on youtube ... and can only manage to grasp on difference between loud and ground shaking loud ... and drone i can handle so need to warn of that

Are borla/frpp stingers going to be alot louder than what i have now ?

worried about tickets when i go into va(3-4 times a week) - they are really picky on exhuast over there

Borla's are louder than flowmasters and they sound better. You shouldn't get a ticket with borla's as long as you keep your midpipe catted. Speaking of tickets for loud exhaust, my nephew just got one in Virgina Beach.

oh yea i love the sound stingers offer (or least the way the sound on the net) ... its just that area of va ... the cops just look for somethin to do ...

i had a friend with a 90 fox ... o/r x and flow 40's no tickets ever in that car but it was rediculously quiet til it passed 2500 rpms

but ive seen cars with just mufflers get tickets thats why im unsure about it

Like my nephew they may have gotten pulled over for other things like speeding and then the cop got them for loud exhaust, tints, ect.

You'll be ok with the Borlas or FRPP Stingers. I ran the Borla Stingers with my longtubes and offroad x and it sounded great. No tickets. They have alot deeper tone than the flows and will take away that tin can noise the flows are notorious for.

I didnt recieve a ticket until I ran the SLP Loudmouths.

my flowmasters sound good no rasp whatsoever but im still runnin' the stock midpipe w/cats (just the baffles rusting out on these flowmasters is drivin me crazy one side sounds just fine and other sounds like its twice as loud with what looks like a golfball sized hole in the first baffle) ... just a lil more volume would be nice ... and soundin deeper is def. a plus ...

i know of two that it was exhaust alone ... i was out with a friend in his s2000 all it had was the test pipe or whatever its called where they delete the cat on stock exhuast ... i think it was 135 dollar ticket and the other was a diesel that had a mbrp muffler but it was pretty loud

has anybody here went from flowmasters to the stingers? if you have was there a major change in noise?

Yup...I've been through about every exhaust. There is a difference in noise. Borlas/FRPP Stingers are deeper and louder.

thanks ... i think sometime next week im going to pull the trigger and grab me a set of the frpp stingers ... the gmpp logo got a friend of mine out of an exhuast ticket on ss/tc cobalt maybe i can get that kinda lucky if i get pulled over lol

But they do drone...

the drone i can handle ... these flows drone like hell ... worse than the mac's my cousin has on his 07 cs/gt

keep the input coming guess ... convince me i can get by with these on my car ... haha

I think steeda has a new design that is a little different than the FRPP/Borla stinger and it might sound a little different. I am not sure about the SLP power flow and how the compare to the stingers.

The steedas are a little louder and have a more raspy tone then the Borla/frpp stingers. Not sure about the powerflos.....

guess that knocks out the steeda's then ... dont really wanna push dB's anymore than what i have to get the deep tone i want with bullet style muffler ...

Thanks everybody for the help

No problem... Sounds like your going with the stingers.

yep i keep gettin closer to pullin' the trigger on a set ... should know for sure once im get this week of college over with ... shit is drivin' me insane

side note - i did pull off ... well attempted to pull off the flows today and see how loud straight piping was (curious) - boredom on a snow schedule day blows ... got the driver side off in like 10 mins moved to other; little did i know some dumbass laid a weld about 2 inches long on the pass. side axle-back at the joint or whatever that is where the axle back piping slides over the over axle piping to connect the two ... im tryin to figure what kind of a bitch this is goin' to be fix/take off

Any advice on that lil gem of a problem lol?

If you have a grinder you can get the weld off... If not your going to have to take it somewhere and get it removed

Thanks yet again lol ... i started to yank out the grinder but didnt figure it would hurt to double check ...... learned double checkin' can save you a ton of time and effort helpin my stepdad build his bracket car
