I can understand your trying to sell a part, but it is def not the best bang for the buck or even applicable to his setup this is pretty lame...
Lightblade, in reality I am not only trying to sell a part but rather giving feedback from an experienced individuals POV. I too have been in his position, and ask the same question he is asking. Long story short alot of very knowledgable individuals pointed me to the gt500 pump for various reasons.
1. It is a direct drop in OE unit, plug and play so they say.
2. A breeze to tune as the fpdm's that come in the kit are made to work directly with the pumps.
3. They flow safely up to 650whp and beyond
4. If one pump fails you have a second one to back you up.
So with your route (as I also looked into this)
1. The tuner (depending on experience) may have a more difficult time tuning it (as told to me by the tuners themselves - not hear say). Which leads to either a somewhat sloppy tune or higher costs for extended time in tuning.
2. At those HP levels if that one pump drop efficiency even in the slightest, since it is the only pump carrying the load, you run the risk of a lean condition which may damage the motor.
We spend alot of time and money on this hobby, and I would hate to see someone grenade their motor. There is a reason Ford puts twin pumps in the gt500, it is not to save cost's, rather it is for SAFETY which is what the OP is looking for.
With FI the LAST thing you should skimp on is the fuel system. To the OP, if you opt the gt500 fuel pump route.. some ppl often sell them used is the 350-500 range depending on use.
Thanks,
Aj
