made some progress today. Im happy to say i did it by myself, just took forever and i was scared shitless without an experienced person to stop me from making stupid mistakes. I tell ya that engine leveler made the entire job doable otherwise i wouldnt have been able to get the motor in or out at all

Just FYI - I have the exact same engine levelor and it makes it easier if you turn it around so the handle to tilt the engine is in the front of the engine rather than the rear.

Your welcome. LOL. Nice to see you are making progress. Now that it is in, it shouldn't be too long until you hear that baby fire up.

Nice job, I wish I had the leveler. I will be attempting to drop my motor in Saturday minus all that good stuff. Aligning the slave cylinder and new clutch will be the hard part for me. Goodluck with the rest of the build.

is there any trick to getting the block and trans to line up with the dowels? Seems i can sort of get the dowels in but if i lower the motor they pop back out. Should i be starting the bolts once i manage to get the dowels lined up to pull the motor and bellhousing together?

Yes, and make sure they are tightened evenly. You may need to make adjustments to the jack (under the trans) or the engine hoist as you get the mating surfaces closer together, so nothing is in a bind. Pay attention to the converter/flexplate clearance.

You should be able to look through the holes in the flexplate to guage the distance to the converter. You already checked your clearance by measuring from the bell face to the converter bolt pads. As long as that number is greater than the distance from the block to the flexplate face, you are golden.

It should come together very easily. If there is any increase in difficulty, check your alingment, make sure it is coming together evenly and see how close the converter is through a bolt hole.
