Ok, time to start giving out some info on the JLT CAI for the 5.0

We are late to the gates due to the hold up at Ford. Nothing is shipping right now and our car is one of those stuck and done. We ordered our Kona Blue Premium back in January to be built with the Brembo brake package so we can hit the road track as we love, 3:73’s, shaker 1000, comfort group, HID’s and more, but it HAS NOT ARRIVED YET. ARGHHHHH.

So our awesome dealer came through for us and got us a car for testing until ours comes in.
So we got right to work and started testing.
Here are some videos we made from our first test session:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqUzNUG6gXk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_imSvXgcig

This is with no tuning, we didn’t even have the software yet when these tests were done. So we got to work on the tube and MAF, testing sizes, shapes and how the car reacts to every possible combo. We saw gains of up to 17 RWHP and equal TQ and for early testing we are happy with what we are seeing.
We worked around the clock developing a heat shield to utilize the fresh air duct from the factory and a much larger free flowing inlet tube/MAF combo. Yes, the MAF will be part of the tube, not a separate piece. This looks killer and makes install a snap. :thumb:

With a hand made proto type we hit the dyno again and did some more testing on Thursday. Ok, today was a high of 99*. When we started conditions in the shop were 98* for the base line runs and over 102* for the JLT results and I’m still impressed with what we’ve done. Where base line numbers last week were in 361-362 RWHP the heat played a small role in a slightly lower 357 & 359 RWHP base pulls.

We ALWAYS base line the car the day of a product test and this is why. A car will not dyno the same number everyday and when a product makes 10-20 RWHP every HP counts when doing a test.
Here is the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQiMNZKYXK4

Again, NO TUNING and we gained 14-16 RWHP.

I have been driving the car with the JLT proto type on and will all weekend to check drivability and power. We will be putting it back on the dyno next week to do some back up testing again (3rd time) and then to start turning up the power with our “tune” version CAI and custom tuning.

I can’t give out too much, but this will be worth the wait. I have several shops lined up who will be testing this as well and giving there honest opinion before it’s released.
Look for us on display at Mustang Week.

Thanks

Jay

Impressive for just a cai to say the least, and its solid gains throughout the rpm range, low end torque looks like it picked up around 25-30! very nice Jay!

Here are some spy shots of what we are working on.
The heat shield is made from 3/16 ABS plastic to help keep intake temperatures down. It uses the factory air intake duct from the grille and will have the weather stripe seal at the top.
The tube is a huge 4.5” OD with a smooth taper to 3.5” at the throttle body. Provisions for the PCV and Sound tube are pre installed. Air sound tube can be capped and your tube removed. The tubes will be released first in a real Carbon Fiber, and then in color matched rotational molded plastic.
The MAF housing is part of the tube, so no extra clamps or couplers to see and a smoother air path on the inside.
We plan on releasing a no tune and tuned version of the kit and will be releasing info as we test on more vehicles.

So far we are happy to report 14-16 RWHP with the no tune version. More info coming soon.

I agree with the sound tube being ugly and it's easily removed.
Sorry about the text on the photo. We don't have the ability to go to Ford and scan the proto type cars a year early like some of the big names. Then we get a car so late we are running to try and catch up with the others releasing product. :(

This is a early production unit and we will have more real unit pictures in a few weeks. Parts are at the mold maker and I'm pushing them as hard as I can.
The CF kits will be killer, I hope to have a couple for Mustang Week. Stop by and check it out.

Hey Jay are you going to be offering a kit at all that does not have the Sound Tube port on it? That is the reason why I went with your 2010 Mustang kit instead of anyone elses. Even capped off it looks no where near as good as if it nevr had it.

Thanks and I agree with you, but not everyone wants to get rid of the tube. I have many on the 2010 kits ask for it with the tube. We can never win.

I keep checking my UPS deliveries Jay and so far nothing from you :( LOL

I look forward to what you have to offer and know it will be a quality product for sure. I'm dying to change out what I already have for yours and lay down some good numbers.

Car is at the dealer getting a new clutch under warranty and then its headed to an exhaust company for use in developing their own line of 5.0 products ;) Not at liberty to say who that is just yet but I know you will love what they have to offer and it should compliment your product 100% :)

Let me know if I can help,

JJ
