Update from Ford Racing:

Hello Ford Racing Partners,

Hope all all is well.

As you may know, there has been some internet blogs regarding flexing of our new M-9424-463V 4.6L 3-Valve Performance Intake Manifold, which is normal and expected. We are implementing the following offer which should dispel any mis-information or concerns about this popular part.

The M-9424-463V 4.6L 3-Valve Performance Intake Manifold normally shows flexing of the manifold body during normal operation with some fuel rail movement. Our testing shows this flexing will not lead to premature failure of the manifold, injector or injector gasket. Ford Racing will replace any M-9424-463V 4.6L 3-Valve Performance Intake Manifold that fails due to defects in workmanship or materials within three (3) years of the date of purchase. Proof of purchase will be required for submission of warranty claim. To the extent allowed by law, this warranty does not cover towing, shipping, removal, installation, rental vehicles, storage, loss of time, commercial loss, loss of use of vehicle, inconvenience, incidental or consequential damages, or other economic loss. Contact the Ford Performance Call Center at (800)367-3788 for details. Damage as a result of improper tuning is not covered.

Thats almost unbelievable to me as the plastic intake has been around a long time and on no factory intake let alone performance intake do they exhibit the same problem.

Update from Ford Racing:

I have stayed away from this thread because I was getting to upset and was not helping anyone. I am glad that FR has added this to their website..... I will say that if I had known this before purchase I wouldn't have been dissapointed as I was when I first found this problem existed. The extended warranty makes me feel better. But I had already decided to leave it on till it failed.... thanks for the update 93!

:wtf:Sounds fishy. Ford is covering their ass. Read the last sentence.

"Damage as a result of improper tuning is not covered".

Ford has a billion dollar team of attorneys that will prove your damage is the result of your 'improper tuning'.

I saw that video, and I'm not an expert on plastic intakes, but it just doesn't look right to me. I wouldn't put it on my Mustang.

Also- by saying that it is "expected and normal", means that they are not going to replace your manifold just because it is flexing.

Essentially they're telling you that if you blow up your intake up from a nitrous backfire, they're not going to cover it. Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

You're right, you're not an expert on plastic intakes, so perhaps you shouldn't comment on them.

And OBVIOUSLY they're not going to replace the intake if it flexes for reasons you have already pointed out.

Once again, if you're not comfortable with what it does, you don't have to buy it. I personally think this latest update really shows the confidence FRPP has in this product. No other FRPP part has such a warranty. To me, that says a lot about this intake and FRPP for backing anyone who decides to purchase it.

When did you purchase yours? I'm assuming that Ford will address the issue and make the newer manifolds stronger so they do not flex.

Mine got installed with a FR throttle body and tuned this past week. No problems what-so-ever. Some minor flexing but not an issue. Lost some midrange 3000-4500 rpm, somewhat noticable, but picked up high end power 4500-6500 rpm which is really noticable. Working my way for this build to get a Procharger kit soon. Should be interesting when complete.

Present # 323 RWHP and 303 tq on Dyno Jet.
