Daaaaaaam . Lookin good brother! Just ordered my cage yesterday... Winter build's are always the best because we have way more time to tear into the car without down time lol

You going with a bolt in? You decide if your stepping up to pure street next year or not?

Im going to set the car up for pure street yes. I bolt a bolt in, going to weld the rear to bars to the hoop. I got the bolt in right now so I can do everything my self this winter. Basicly full Race car type build... but still drive it on the street :roflmao:

One problem with my motor for pure street isn't going to be legal yet.... :(

So what did you find that got hurt? Is there an L&M bullet in your future?

JJ

Seems like he doesnt want to answer that or similar questions... I dont see what the big deal is, if something broke, something broke. It helps everyone learn the limits of a stock motor.

+1.

i'm considering a pd blower for mine, and I'd like to know what kind of success people are having with boost on the new motors.

As far as the build, somethings are on the downlow due to sponsorship things i've got in the works.

As far as the limits. I drove to bowling green on a pump gas tune, raced for 3 days, won the event and drove back home running consistent 10's and cracking 130 mph. 3.55 gears, auto, and no stall lazy 1.7 60's.

JPC has the same blower, on race gas, JPC has made over 800rwhp and is running 9's with the same blower with only 3psi more boost. There car is a stick and getting much better 60's and I think once they get it dialed in, they will be mid to low 9's on race gas.

I'm set up for 8.75 psi, and the are running 12 i believe.

They are running VP 110 if i'm not mistaken.

Well, I say same blower, theirs is the NOVI, but basically the same as my T Trim.

Thats all well and good but what happend to the stock motor? What got hurt and do you think that whatever got hurt is the weak link or just a fluke?

Good luck on the new build, I'm sure it will be a good one and you might wind up needing more bars. ;)

Exactly.

There's no reason not to let people know what happened if something did. With any of our cars I've never been afraid to let people know what's going on with them good or bad. Hell we just finally sorted out our 2010 gt500 which for the longest time had something wrong with it. We were going nuts trying to figure it out. Spent thousands upon thousands of dollars trying to trouble shoot and replace things. Finally it came down to a broken valve keeper. Thank god we didn't drop a valve and the car is now fixed but my whole point is that there's no need for us to keep it a secret. Hopefully what happened to us will help someone later on down the line if they run into the same issues we did.

Good luck with your build Terry and keep us posted.

What was it that went south? Piston? Ring? No real reason to tear into the motor otherwise. Seemed to be making good HP from those who tuned it...

The plan all along was to step it up for next year. You'll see that in my Race Pages article that came out today. I had full intention on going into the motor over the winter.

That being said, the last trip out to the track, started noticing some smoke coming out of the tale pipe. Car was still running okay, but there is more than likely something going on. I'm pretty sure I know what caused the problem. But can't say for 100% sure. That's why I choose to say nothing. When I know, i'll give the details.

As far as the motor, it will be headed off to B.E.S. (Bischoff's) who isn't that far from us. He just took first and second place recently in the engine masters competition. This will be their first 5.0. But they have done plenty of modular engines.

Initial thoughts will be diamond pistons, manley rods, arp hardware. As far as the heads, definately springs, probably a mild port job, and some sort of a valve job.

Fair enough. I think several of us would be interested to know what went south when you discover.

Alright, lots of good stuff coming!

Block is bored over .10

Getting ready to finish it up.

On top of that, we are going to be doing a before and after on a set of JPC Racing head / cam combo!

I'll keep everyone posted!

Find out what was hurt? Sounds like a ring land or something detonation related if you had to clean up the cylinders.

Got some Pistons coming from Diamond.

Livernois is providing the rods, studs, and bearings.

Everything should be coming together real soon!

Switching over to an older fuel tank along with a Fore returnless fuel system.

Car should run out pretty good next year!!!
