step one-plasma cutter
step two-????
step three- profit!

Na really, take the plasma cutter and cut every piece of steel that isn't stuctural. take the dash apart and cut out everything that doesnt have to do with mounting the dash panel, and put holes in those parts that do.

go to the trunk and cut out all that extra steel between the wheel wells and tail panel. there is a lot there that can go and doesnt put a hole in to the outside.

that rear speaker deck?- cut all the center out of it and rivit some aluminum in (to seal off the battery and fuel cell... when you put the carpet over it no one can tell anyways..

take the doors apart and cut the crash beams out of them, then drill holes everywhere that doesnt affect mounting the windows and door panels.

I will probably make some aluminum bumper beams in the next month or so. But a friend of mine removed his altogether and he said it didn't weigh very much so if I get my aluminum beams as strong as the stock ones they will weigh about 40% less so theoretically a 20 lbs beam replaced saves be 8 lbs. Not terrible but is it worth it if you can't do it yourself?

The weight savings wouldnt be overkill by no means with the bumper beams...and for $199.00 each like Razors Edge was selling them for its really not worth the coin unless you can make them yourself.

DO NOT BUY FROM RAZORS EDGE - they took my $200 and have not shipped my bumper - going on 4 months now

what you need to do is start taking stuff out untill you have a pile like this

Gla042-1.jpg

then just put back as little as posible

also as far as the bumpers are concerned

Just cut the whole thing off and cap it

I have a good amount of weight off my car already and wanted to take off the front crash beam but some say the bumper cover will actually cave in with high speeds and others say it wont. Wish i had a welder to make my own light weight beam like this one

I could make those here in the shop for about $125. i could maybe do it out of alumium as well. would be alittle more expensive

I could also make that rear bumper bar as well. Im sure i would be under 200 bucks on that
