having an extra 52hp at your redline really does nothing, if it was 52 hp at say 6500 or 7000 I would not argue but it isn't its right where they shutdown on the dyno, I only responded back on this thread because I was called and felt I had to respond with my reasoning

The redline is raised and you can now stay in motion longer with out having to shift and your also going faster because the car is still making power past the stock drop off point of 6600 rpm. really a no brainer, esp for when guys are riding out 4th gear at the track instead of shifting into 5th they can now still make more power while riding that gear out, like 52 extra hp more :lol2:

look at the graphs, the 52hp is at what 7300 rpms? where does the graph stop? 7500, the only way this is valuable is when your able to rev to 8000.

Check the graphs again. It picked up 52hp at 7250rpms, not at 7500.
There is even a 33hp gain at 6800 rpms and once we work on the little dip up top it will be even more of a gain.:thumb:

I will be pulling the car to 8k to see if it is still making power beyond 7500.

I dont know where your located but I'd be happy to take you for a ride, it would totally change your mind. Ford didnt put an "oh jesus" handle in this car for the passenger but I think as hard as it keeps pulling up top someone should. :evillaugh:

It's running away @ 6700 - 7500. Not only is there more power for this 800 rpm, but it allows you to shift 800 rpm higher which means that on the gear change you are higher in the rpm band which means you are making more power than you would have been if you had to shift earlier.

Exactly!

Once the final tuning is completed, I bet there will be a pretty good hit about 6500 and a really good hit at 6900. With my 3.55 rear end, I'm thinking this is really going to help me on the strip. Worry about losing that 10-12ft/lb of torque below 4k is pure ignorance IMO. Get you car on the 1/4 strip and then come back and tell us where you want more power. Hell, I would love to have more torque, but I'll depend on that from another source like FI or juice. Shit, as it is now, I have heavy ass chrome wheels and 275/35-19's on my car and have issues launching with traction anyway. The reality is, I have PLENTY of torque for my setup to get me screaming down the strip. It's that extra blip of ponies towards the end that's going to make it so that the next gear drops right into the sweet spot.

Sheesh. I need a fucking money tree damnit.

my next question is how long can this trans and clutch (even the aftermarket clutch's) hold up to making the 8000rpm shifts since the Boss has the TR6060 in it w/ a twin disk clutch.. ? ? im probably guessing a FAIL for the MT82

I will try to get a roadtest video of how hard it pulls to 7500. It will have to be a 4th gear pull as any gear below that just roasts the tires and 5th is just too damn fast to do on the road!!! LOL (almost 160mph in 5th on the dyno)

If you want a comparison, lemme know how you're gonna set it up and I'll do one in my car as well. Mods are in my sig. It could give you something to compare it against if you want.

I am not sure how long WMS has had the boss manifold.. things take time for proper tuning..
another thing.. when the car was rated .1 faster than a 07-09 GT500 stock in the 1/4 mile.. Seeing people with intakes/exhausts doing 11's..
Going from a 3v to a 5.0 4v , its a pretty big difference...

the boss has an mt-82 with an updated clutch from everything I have read

My other question is with the Boss having upgraded internals for its 7500 rpm redline, is it recommended to keep the standard motor to 7500 rpm or below?

I have read that but that is still interesting, the gear spacing is more for higher torque capacity cars like the GT500 and ZR1. The MT82 has better and closer gear spacing to keep a peaky engine like the Boss 302 in its powerband.

The other thing I wonder why does the Boss need a heavier , higher torque capacity gearbox?

ya see thats what i thought to.. i just found that thread today and started to wonder if the MT82 will hold up to that kind of abuse..
some articles I read say its updated some say its identical, the only thing for certain is it is an mt82 and it has the same ratios in the tranny and the clutch assembly is stronger
