I'm still looking for afloor jack as well. The jack I had my entire adult life failed on me last year. Luckily it was nice about it. I was swapping tires on the wifes car and when I went to get the car off the jack syands the jack wouldnt lift it. Had to get a H-D cheapie just to get the car off the jack stands.

It was a jack I've had for about 30 years, used infrequently the last 20 of those compared to the first years. Big and heavy sucker, ~100lbs, the handle was pobably 7lbs of that. No name, made in china.

So looking at jacks that are readily avaible they all have customer reviews that horrible.

This place appears to have good stuff:

I've not bought anything from them, just saying. I'm still deciding, "paralysis by analysis".

For the safety aspect others have said. i had a car fall on me when I was in my twenties. I had a cheapo jack stand that was iunder the rear. I had the car on ramps up front and on stands in the rear in the driveway with a slight angle. I'm lucky to be alive, it happened fast enough i had no chance to get out from under it. I got my head in a spot near the trans and that kept my skull from being crushed.

The way my old reliable jack failed would have been the same if it had been used without stands, no time to get out.

ah, very scary. i think i called that place about getting one of their jacks, but did not because of the shipping/freight costs to have it shipped. i ended up finding a local tool and hydraulic dealer and getting a real nice floor jack from them... something you may want to consider.

I had my receipt for the sears jack and the boxes all said one year warrenty on it so they gave me the cash back on a card becuase I wasnt' going to get the same jack again (pos). I hate going to old ass car shops and see these jacks that look like they are 30 years old still working and we can't get a freekin jack to work for 3 months, wtf.
Hows the extended warrenty at HF? How long does it last? I just figure if its a 3 year warrenty take it back right before the 3 year if it hasn't broken already and get a new one with a new warrenty for the price of another warrenty.

I haven't looked at all of them but the jacks I'm interested on have free shipping.

I bought an extended warranty on the HF racing jack. It was worth it because the jack failed in 10 months. The second one failed much sooner than that. And the third and final one had a bolt break before I even got it assembled. They ended up mailing me a check after all that and without that extended warranty I would've got nothing.

It was worth it and I was happy with their service even if their stuff was trash.

if you want a jack that will last you thirty years, you had to buy it thirty years ago when quality wasn't shirked for quantity and profit.
