That sucks. Ive never had an issue with mine. I use it to lift and hold the belly pans of machines while im bolting them back up.

I dont trust HF for jacks. Have one fail on you, just once, it could be fatal or costly.
Not worth scrimping on something so critical.
But, that said, I'm now looking for a good low-profile jack as well.

I had two of these piles of crap fail. One took about 10 months when it quit lifting. The handle got progressively more difficult to turn over time before it failed. The second one made it two months and failed with my friend's car in the air. Took an act of god to get the damn thing to finally release.

I tried a third one and the bolt that held the handle on broke off on me before I even got it set up. That was the last HF jack I will ever buy.

It's all pretty much chinese made trash now but some of it is a little bit less craptastic than others.

Two words: JACK STANDS.

Getting under a car supported by ANY jack only, is pretty crazy.

Seriously... You would think that people would get it after so many deaths from jacks failing and not using jack stands..

but you have that short period of time when the car is in the air before you can get a jackstand placed exactly where you want it...so if i'm putting stands under the front of the car i leave the ramps under it before removing the jack

That craftsman one got shit reviews. Its funny that this thread is here because I was just looking at jacks today. I got a low profile craftsman last year for Christmas and that piece didn't make it a year. Luckily they took it back because I had the receipt and I didn't have it a full year.

Ya I bought a craftsman for 250 used to do my headers then two months went by when I needed to use it again the O-ring went out. Yall might of know this but I didn't the lift time hell even the year warranty are not good on these. well that what I was told when I tuck it back.

I have a craftsman jack too. It leaks and loses pressure. Since I bought the 2 ton low pro from china freight I haven't used the pos craftsman.

So it seems like it's hit or miss with Crapman and Harbor Fright. LOL

I do the same but even if I didn't it'd be easy enough to get the jack stands close enough that the car wouldn't kill you!

I've had a craftsman jack that blew the seal and dumped hydraulic fluid all over my driveway. This was a jack not even a year old. Seriously it's very hard to find a floor jack that is any good that will last. They are all mostly just trash.

For the track I have a craftsman. At home I have a very heavy Snap On. I would never just trust a jack. I even use ramps under the tires with jack stands if I am under there for a while. All this shit is made in China and jack stands can fail too.

Seriously guys, this jack from Wally-World is a great one! 6,000lb capacity and low profile. I ended up getting the Red one, which has a slightly different P/N, that is 6,000lb rated and has an extensible jack-point with a rubber insert. Since I bought this jack over a year ago, it has jacked up one side of my Dodge Ram 4x4 with ease, easily jacks up the rear end of my car in the center on the pumpkin so I can throw two jacks back there with just one lift of the car. Up front, it lifts the car so effortlessly I can use one hand to jack while looking underneath the car for any slippage. However, I do have to drive up on a piece of 2x6 wood so the jack will fit under the front. No problems with the back.

VTX, how much clearance do you have up front?

On the side valance, right behind the wheel, I have 4.5". Upfront, from the front valance to the ground, right in front of the tire, I have 5.35". The jack I have just needs another 1/2" or so to get under the car. So I used the 2x6's. I cut them 14" long and they are easy to drive onto.

They dropped it a good 1.5". The back dropped about 1.5-ish as well, but once I put on the SRT.T's I got another little bit of a drop out of the rear. Overall, I'm really satisfied with the combo!

I've had that one for about 5 years now, the only issue i've had is with the front roller not spinning. Otherwise it's been a great jack.
