That sucks. Ive never had an issue with mine. I use it to lift and hold the belly pans of machines while im bolting them back up.
Two words: JACK STANDS.I dont trust HF for jacks. Have one fail on you, just once, it could be fatal or costly.
Not worth scrimping on something so critical.
But, that said, I'm now looking for a good low-profile jack as well.
Two words: JACK STANDS.
Getting under a car supported by ANY jack only, is pretty crazy.
Seriously... You would think that people would get it after so many deaths from jacks failing and not using jack stands..
That craftsman one got shit reviews. Its funny that this thread is here because I was just looking at jacks today. I got a low profile craftsman last year for Christmas and that piece didn't make it a year. Luckily they took it back because I had the receipt and I didn't have it a full year.
Ya I bought a craftsman for 250 used to do my headers then two months went by when I needed to use it again the O-ring went out. Yall might of know this but I didn't the lift time hell even the year warranty are not good on these. well that what I was told when I tuck it back.
but you have that short period of time when the car is in the air before you can get a jackstand placed exactly where you want it...so if i'm putting stands under the front of the car i leave the ramps under it before removing the jack

VTX, how much clearance do you have up front?
Yeah thats a tight fit. How low did the new springs drop the front?
Craftsman makes this aluminum low profile jack, a buddy of mine has one, it rolled right under my car with steeda ultralights, I was shocked because i usually have to put the 2x4's for it to clear.

I have a craftsman jack too. It leaks and loses pressure. Since I bought the 2 ton low pro from china freight I haven't used the pos craftsman.
I've had a craftsman jack that blew the seal and dumped hydraulic fluid all over my driveway. This was a jack not even a year old. Seriously it's very hard to find a floor jack that is any good that will last. They are all mostly just trash.
I sears doe the same thing to me had the jack for 3 Months and ti wouldn't release they told me to kick rocks when I tried just to exchange it.. FUCK SEARS I won't even buy craftsman hand tools anymore all Kobalt. Goin to harbor freight now!I've had that one for about 5 years now, the only issue i've had is with the front roller not spinning. Otherwise it's been a great jack.
