mac, pypes and jba are nicely priced headers with great reviews I'll go that way if I decide on headers but I don't see how headers can be worth over a grand EVER lol

I agree. I like the MACS and will be buying those. I had a pair of them on my '96 and they were great. No way in hell I'm paying over $500 for headers. Especially when the gains aren't alot really.

I was so happy not to see pypes on the list. I saved a little money buying the pypes but paid the price when I got their crap quality header

Took me a month to get the headers, when they came they had small dents all over the place, including the inner tubes (indicating the damage was not from shipping). I called pypes and they did send a call tag but didn't get a replacement out for another month. So basically it took me 2 months to get what I paid for. I know from a business stand point, I always make my mistake a priority and get that resolved before I make sales.

Sounds like a normal replacement for a bad item, how was the replacement?

I don't really consider a month, a normal replacement period. Would you want to wait 2 months to get what you paid for?

Can someone with experience speak to the problems that the cat'd Kooks headers have been giving people? I seem to recall reading alot of horror stories where the cats basically self destruct on folks, causing big time exhaust restrictions (and sometimes further problems)?

Were the new ones good at least? Did you put them on your car?

Delivery wise no way, but that just depends on who you order from.
That does not speak about the actual product.

Yeah that sounds initially like a fubar on whatever vendor you ordered from unless they were backordered. Then a delay on Pypes shipping and receiving dept.

How was the quality and install on the second set? I plan on buying a set of those here in a couple months.

28,000 Plus miles and Zero problems.
I (Think) "some" of the problems you speak of were with the Tunes installed and Burning out the Cats.

Quality and fittment were ok. The first month I blame on the vendor but after that it was on pypes. They wanted to push me back even further until I started complaining and getting upset. Personally, I would only buy from kooks or American Racing. If the first set I got looked the way it did, it tells me that they have little to no quality control on finished products. If they can let something like that go through who is to say that they checked the flange for flattness. You do not want to do this job and realize you have a leak because someone failed to inspect the headers before going out
