93 Race Tune with Ghost Cams

The boss has quiet mufflers lol.

Well i wont be installing mt factory mufflers to prove a point. Im sure when every other tuner hits the market with the ghost cammed tune they will all sound pretty close.

I completely understand the cost of the tune and Im sure a Lund tune is well worth it but if I cant feel a big difference in what I have now then why pay another $200 for something that could possibly be not noticeable.

Exhaust on our cars lose a little tq and really dont put up much hp. yet some people pay upwards of 1000 for a cat back. or those who spend 1500 on a header setup to get only 7 more hp than just cat deletes and xpipe for 500. or those who pay for a boss manifold + tune and only see a increase at redline and loss of tq in the midrange. Modification and what people to is subjective. everyone likes different things and everything can be justified in some way. I personally dont feel 200 is a lot for a tune. Im use to spending 600 on the rollers to have a custom tune done only a few years ago. these mail tunes are pretty much spot on with a custom tune for a fraction of the cost. what amazes me is the people who pay 50 for a tune and bitch when things pop up. knocking, pinging, idle issues. etc.

Not many threads about issues with Lund tunes...

You are right. After having issues with the idle lope tune he sent me his 93 aggressive tune for my auto and it is the best. Talk about smooth. I have a few others that i paid 50 bucks for and this tune is much better and worth the price. Like you said i paid 300 for a CAI that i think did not add much in the way of performance and 300 on a axle back that im still questioning if i like.
His tune is worth the 200. Now when the idle lope tune gets the kinks out for the auto then im sure it will be also.

200 is not bad. If you factor in dyno time, your local guy's tune fee, and the method and gas to get to your local dyno you have already busted 200 dollars. not to mention most clowns nowadays buy camshafts just for sound anyways so this is an easy cheap out for the choppy idle. Win win if you look at it from that perspective.....

The drivability of the idle lope tune is much better with a stick than auto. Auto you get a lot of bucking at low rpm's such as slowing down to a stop or in a lot of slow and go traffic. Not very enjoyable and hopefully they can get this worked out over time.

I thought that was just the adjusted throttle response. I have a M6 and it does this sometimes if I'm crawling in traffic, which I hardly do because I don't DD my car.

This video has an annoying "flutter" sound, but it doesn't do this normally. I'm not sure what it was.

It will take a lot longer when the car is cold.

The rpms have to drop to 1000 for it too lope like that. so if the motors cold, and abov 1k rpm, then yes, it takes a few seconds to idle down. just like the car from the factory.

We wouldn't be paying $200 for a tune, if we could do this by adjusting the idle rpm.

Yes, you can adjust the idle rpm via your Xcal if the tuner leaves that parameter open to you. You won't get these results though just from lowering the idle rpm.

This is from adjusting the cam positions. At least that's my understanding. There are likely other functions that are tweaked in order to keep the drivability, but that's the meat and potatoes of it.

I'm not. I think it was Digital Synapse that had posted about having back fire. To me, it sounded like back pressure and not backfires. I get the same back pressure popping on decel, but not from dry revs.

Edit: I've always had the back pressure popping on decel with this exhaust setup.

I'm not a retard. I know that lowering the idle speed won't create more cam overlap. I am aware that the rough idle is created by advancing and retarding the exhaust and intake cams electronically to create this. But thanks for the vote of confidence. I just wanted to know was could I knock the idle down a couple hundred rpms to "highlight" the choppy idle.
