If I have to pull my heads for valve guides I'm going to be PISSED!
+1. if i was going to send my heads out to get cnc's id send it to ron!
I got BBR heads on my car and im running 9-1 compression and idk if my rings are the problem or something is up with my heads but i do recall oil leaking out of the driver side front 2 exhaust ports on the first 500 miles of the fresh build, now it just burns oil half a quart every 1000 miles pisses me off but runs fine and makes good numbers so ill just drive it until it breaks lol
Am I the only one without issues on these stage 2 heads... I looked mine over before installing and everything was nicely done. To this day with about 3000miles on them I haven't noticed a leak, this thread does make me nervous down the road.... I too am surprised Livernois hasn't came into here...
I was under the impression that BBR heads are Livernois heads.Does BBR have a 5 axis CNC machine at their shop? Or even a 3? Just wondering if BBR does their own heads or they just rebadge them like several other vendors...
the only difference i'm seeing between the stage 2s and 3s is the bronze guides and some heavier porting in the stage 3s. with the stage 2s, i'd say it'd be kind of hard to fuck up if all you're doing is some port work with a CNC machine. sounds pretty reasonable to assume the guides in the stage 3s are the culprit.
edit: just saw how old this thread was, but i also saw that OP was using stage 2's and livernois replaced OP's guides... idk, its just speculation until OP posts what happene
Raising the roof of the port is important but the exhaust ports on the stage 3's area a little over ported and possibly not only is there not enough of a interderence fit between the guides and heads but maybe not enough of the head holding onto the guide length wise as well. They are a short guide to begin with. One thing i noticed on the new guides i bought from them was that they have a lip on them that sits on the head. Im gonna be sure to seal it under that lip.
I was under the impression that BBR heads are Livernois heads.
I could be wrong though.
Question for everyone with this "oil" problem......do your cars smoke on start up or heavy acceleration or decel?
