I got BBR heads on my car and im running 9-1 compression and idk if my rings are the problem or something is up with my heads but i do recall oil leaking out of the driver side front 2 exhaust ports on the first 500 miles of the fresh build, now it just burns oil half a quart every 1000 miles pisses me off but runs fine and makes good numbers so ill just drive it until it breaks lol :asshat:

the fact that livernois hasn't even posted in this thread to explain speaks volumes. i actually was thinking of using them went i needed block and heads or at least heads, but not now. i will never buy anything from them after this thread..... i wouldn't be so hard on them if they spoke up in here. plus, this isn't the first time i've heard things like this about the shop.

Does BBR have a 5 axis CNC machine at their shop? Or even a 3? Just wondering if BBR does their own heads or they just rebadge them like several other vendors...

Am I the only one without issues on these stage 2 heads... I looked mine over before installing and everything was nicely done. To this day with about 3000miles on them I haven't noticed a leak, this thread does make me nervous down the road.... I too am surprised Livernois hasn't came into here...

Someone should PM them this thread.

the only difference i'm seeing between the stage 2s and 3s is the bronze guides and some heavier porting in the stage 3s. with the stage 2s, i'd say it'd be kind of hard to fuck up if all you're doing is some port work with a CNC machine. sounds pretty reasonable to assume the guides in the stage 3s are the culprit.

edit: just saw how old this thread was, but i also saw that OP was using stage 2's and livernois replaced OP's guides... idk, its just speculation until OP posts what happened.

I was under the impression that BBR heads are Livernois heads.

I could be wrong though.

Raising the roof of the port is important but the exhaust ports on the stage 3's area a little over ported and possibly not only is there not enough of a interderence fit between the guides and heads but maybe not enough of the head holding onto the guide length wise as well. They are a short guide to begin with. One thing i noticed on the new guides i bought from them was that they have a lip on them that sits on the head. Im gonna be sure to seal it under that lip.

Question for everyone with this "oil" problem......do your cars smoke on start up or heavy acceleration or decel?

With out a doubt it did on start up. It seemed the longer it sat the more blue smoke wanted to come out of the tail pipes. I never really noticed it during heavy acceleration or decel but I only "watched" someone drive my car on VERY few occasions.

This is from prior to Livernois replacing my heads:

This is from after (at about the 18 sec mark) with the new guides (sorry for the PJ's):

Hopefully the later is just a result of clearances in a forged engine but I've been watching my oil consumption with a close eye and even fabed a custom JLT air/oil separator in line form my valve cover to my Whipple to eliminate that as a possiblity. Borescope should show up this week...

I have Livernois stage II heads and had a guide failure while driving the car at 15mph. Livernois did me straight though and replaced the heads at no charge

We had there 298 stroker and Stage 3 heads on my buddies old setup....that setup never had any issues....it also only has about 2,500 miles on it. Its currently sitting in his garage on an engine stand. It will be going into a new car soon enough Im sure. But like stated before we didnt have any issues with it....it had 10 track passes on it with 20+psi in boost.

Surprised to see issues with Livernois's work, they have done nothing but good things from what i have seen.
