Am I late to the party on this?

So I tried a 7/32" wrench on the piston rod on my rear shocks. The weirdo wrench shattered before I could torque down the shocks upper nuts. An adjustable wrench didn't work so great, and vise grips were about to tear it up. Turned out what I needed was Used that and a torque wrench on a...

I take a shower once a month whether I need it or not, too.....

I finally changed the rear shocks on my 08 GT. My baby only had 160k miles. I noticed that the motor would redline whenever it was pulling hard and I hit a bump in Michigan's wonderful roads. I installed some Monroe OESpectrum shocks today. I don't race my car, and it's my daily driver...

    key question

So I pulled my keys out of my pocket today, and the loop at the top of my key had separated from the rest of the key. Can I just drill a hole in the black plastic and stick a key ring through that? I'm concerned that there is a chip of some sort in the black plastic. I guess I could try it...

    new x-pipe

About 18mo ago I bought from Steeda and installed a Pypes catted x-pipe. Worked great until about three weeks ago when a hole blew out on the right pipe where the hanger had been welded to the pipe. I called Steeda and they helped me w/ Pypes. Pypes sent me a new x-pipe no charge except...

    anybody change horns?

I am sick & tired of truckers trying to drive me into Jersey walls on I-75. [How many lanes do you want?] Has anyone upgraded the horn on a 4.6? I can get a 130dbl horn from Rock Auto. https://iihs.net/fsm/?d=348&f=Horn.pdf&p=1 makes installation appear reasonably simple. Any reasons to do...

    good idea?

So I cleaned my Roush/Air Raid filter today. I had lots of little bits of leaf stuck in the filter that were a pain to clean. I have a ladies knee high nylon stocking that I could stretch over the filter. Lot cheaper than $25 for a precharger. Is this a bad idea?

replacing panhard rod and rear sway bar bushings

My GT has just over 150k on it, and I thought I should replace the panhard rod and rear sway bar bushings. I changed them yesterday, 3apr25. The sway bar took a little over two hours using a lift and with a friend helping. The link bar bushings are fairly easy to remove once you cut off the...

clunk or knock from right rear on shifts

I have noticed for a couple years now that that when I shift from 1st to 2d and my foot is coming up about 1/2way on the clutch there is a clunk or thunk from the right rear. I don't hear it under light or gentle acceleration. I do hear it on moderate or hard acceleration. I also hear it a...

What do we think of this NTK 22060 that I pulled b/c P0153?

They just look a little sooty as you get close to the threads. I take it that means I'm running a little rich.

    P0153 returns & 2 questions

I had an intermittent P0153 last December. I replaced the left side upstream 02 sensor in Feb at about 140k miles. Installed an NTK 22060. Today at 147k miles CEL came on, and the only code on the scanner was P0153. If the cause was a wiring problem or something random like that, I think the...

As Sanderson, the Pixie CEO said, "The irony is killing me."

I heard a grating or scraping noise when I pumped up the brakes with the engine off and the car parked. It occurred to me that I should lube the pins. I did that today, and it made no difference. So maybe it was the ears on the pads that contact the caliper. Did that. As I was compressing...

New Steeda SBH 6101 brake hoses

Because PowerStop has recalled its braided stainless steel hoses for some reason, I bought new ones from Steeda. They're a little more expensive than competitors, but you get copper crush washers instead of aluminum ones. The kit came with lots of brackets. I saw no reason to replace the OEM...

    diagnose my steering thump/clunk

So on 2aug24 near Ann Arbor, a semi from Skyline Prime, Inc. 6111 Harrison St Ste 301 Merrillville, IN 46410 ran me off the road and onto the shoulder of US 23. I had no choice but to hit a massive pothole at about 75mph. Afterwards held a straight line, and there was no unusual vibration. I...

    less redneck air deflector

A couple years ago I installed a plastic panel as an air defector under my 08 GT. It did give me maybe .1mpg better, and the hood fluttered less, but it was less than ideal. Attaching it with zip ties to the K-member looked pretty amateur. My sister-in-law's fiance has a lift that he offered...

2008 18" polished aluminum finish fix

I tried fixing the finish on my rims a few years ago, but clear coat didn't work so well. The other day I noticed that I had some Rustoleum Bright Coat Metallic finish 7718 Chrome spray paint, and I sprayed it on an empty beer can. It matched my rims. I masked off my rims today and sprayed...

    Pypes XFM26E catted X-pipe

I installed Pypes XFM26E catted X-pipe about 10 days ago, and I'm quite happy with them. One of my cats was leaking at the weld after 143k miles. The Pypes from Steeda was an easy choice. I had installed JBA ceramic coated shorties a few years ago, and the Pypes bolt right up. Remember, you...

when did Ford stop using front isolators?

I installed Pypes catted X-pipe SFM26E on Sunday. I noticed that I didn't have any front isolators for the prongs on the X-pipe. I don't think I've ever had them. I have isolators at the rear that hold up the back exhaust pipe. From...

    Clean your filthy stereo!

My Shaker 500 had been acting up on me - not reading discs, ejecting discs, etc. I tried a Memorex cleaning CD, and the problem is fixed. Only took a couple minutes.

    one heck of a battery

On Tues I thought my car turned over maybe a little slower than usual. On Wed, it was slow enough and I heard a clicking noise that I thought I needed a fix. I called AutoZone to see if there battery/alternator tester was working, and they said it was, so I drove there. I checked my logbook...

    What a PITA!

I had a P0153 that I thought might have been due to humidity and low temps. Cleared the code, but it came back in dryer weather. Yesterday I replaced the upstream left side sensor with an NTK 22060 sensor. What a pain in the assets! I thought it would be easy b/c I had no memory of it from...

    CEL on then off?

CEL lit this morning when it was really cold. Drove about 20 miles, scanned the code, and it came back P0153, bank 2 sensor 1 show response. Thought I'd order another 02 sensor, but when I went out 20min later, the CEL was off. Does this happen much? Why would the CEL turn off? FWIW, the...

Anybody else notice that grease fitting stink now-a-days

Installed rear lower control arms in 2015. Noticed pretty soon that some of the grease fittings didn't work. Bought some from AZ, and half of those didn't work. Sometimes, I'd pump in grease, and it would squirt back out of the fittings. Sometimes, the grease wouldn't go in at all. A local...

removing gasoline residue from filler area

I have a little greenish/yellowish residue in the area of the fuel filler. I assume it's fuel residue. I've tried Simple Green, car wash concentrate, and Krud Kutter, but I can't get rid of it. Any idea what will remove the residue?

    polished my exhaust tips today

The boss gave me a jar of Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish. She thought I might polish my wheels. I explained that wouldn't work, but I'd definitely try it on my exhaust tips. Mothers before by MasterofDisaster posted May 14, 2023 at 7:43 PM shows a tip after I had cleaned it with turpentine to...

my 4.025l experiment was a failure

My car is one of the newer 08s. Few weeks ago, my 3V was running rough. Changed the plugs, and it ran better, but still rough. CEL came on, AutoZone said it was P0303 misfire #3 and gave me a list of coil on plug prices. Like a dummy, I replaced the coils, it made no difference, and the CEL...
