05-09 3V GT - Leaking Clutch Master?

Hey guys,

Recently my clutch has been feeling like shit. Everytime I push the clutch in and out while city driving it will feel like im stepping on rocks. It has a very rough feel to it, as if theres a lack of fluid going into the clutch. Also when the car is at a stop, if you push the clutch in and out it will make a sound. I went ahead and purchased a new clutch master as well as a McLeod Stainless steel clutch line.

Do you guys think this will do the trick?

Could it be a bad slave cylinder/throwout bearing in the transmission? I know the clutch isn't bad because when I redline at 6,800rpm's and throw it into second it, the tires chirp and the clutch grabs.

Any suggestions on what it may be?

It could be a few things. First guess would be the slave cylinder. What clutch is in it and how long has it been in?

It's the stock clutch and it's been in since it's left the production line. It's almost 2015 and the car is a 2006 mustang gt with 47,5XX miles.

If the sound is coming from the clutch pedal area, the problem could indeed be the master cylinder. If the master cylinder is leaking fluid, the fluid level in the reservoir would go down and need frequent topping up. Also if fluid can come out, air can go in giving you a spongy pedal feel.
If the sound is coming from the transmission area and disappears when you depress the clutch pedal, the problem would be a worn release bearing.

Unless your Master is leaking I would think it is your release bearing (hydraulic slave cylinder) and if that is the case you will be in for a new clutch, once the tranny is out to get to the release bearing go all new.

Master cylinders rarely go bad.

As stock clutch with 47K miles in a raced car is probably pretty worn out!!
But the sign of a bad clutch are slipping and if totally shot/damaged, vibrations and obvious engagement/disengagement issues.

Signs of a worn slave are leaks, noisy bearing, no disengagement of clutch which would also probably leak.

What fluid are you running in there? How old is it? Is your brake fluid level stable?

What kind of sound is it making when you simply press the clutch pedal (without car running)?
