Mines an 08 from Feb with over 24k on it so far an no issues. Is this something that happens all of a sudden or are there warning signs?

Mine failed after I put in my KB. Somehow it started to melt. I got the remanufactored one and it has yet to fail.

I firmly believe that these alternators last longer with a better battery. 90% of alternator failures are due to having a weak battery. After my first alternator died I replaced the battery with an Optima yellow top and have gone 48K with no problems. I'm replacing that Optima with a Braille 21 pounder 550 CCA to lose 22 pounds of weight. We'll see how long the alternator lasts with this battery.

My second factory alternator died with the optima. You're just lucky

Do you have a link to the PA performance one? My 06 has 36K and still on the original alternator

hmmm fwiw they warranty replaced my alternator trying to chase a belt squeak. That did not fix the problem, but then within 2 weeks the REMAN alternator they gave me...its bearings died. Then another ford dealer wouldnt warranty it because it was on a dealer installed FRPP supercharged car so "that voids my warranty." Yea whatever asshole...took it to my friends at Downs ford in toms river. No problems. Changed it right out. All american in paramus....you have fun being everything thats wrong with the car business.

My 07 was built in Sept 06. Original alternator died in less than a year at about 9K miles. Covered under warranty. Now, with 25K on the odometer, my alternator is starting to make the same noise the original one made just before it puked, so I'm likely looking at another failure soon.

A friend of mine who is a remanufacturer of alternators took one look under the hood of my 2010 and said "good you have the Denzo not the ford alternator". Unfortunately he doesn't get cores for the Denzo.
