Get a crappy go-cart type vehicle until he/she is smart enough to realize the value of a dollar. Said 16 year old gets a good enough job to pay for insurance on vehicle he/she wants. Win/Win situation.

Wow, more of a response than anticipating and from the young men as well.

I'm going to call my agent and test the water. When I first bought the stang most agents over here wouldn't write a policy if you had a teenage male living in the houshold. If they would they had to have oustanding grades and defensive driving classes and it would still cost close to $3000 a year, after Katrina it was worse...my policy went up over $700 every 6 months for the stang and that's even when my wife and I are 50 and above with good driving record.

Current 6 month rate with multi policy house and boat,

$285 liability for 97 Stratus...my DD BC.
$385 full coverage 04 Supercrew.
$495 06 Mustang GT
Total = $1165

Iv'e got a sneaky feeling they will try to nail my ass regardelss if he drives the stang or not.

They will. They told me my insurance would be 280 over the phone and get the bill for 340...isn't that nice? With him on your policy along with the stang your rates will more than likely go up.

Man I know how ya feel. Just added my 16 year son in AUG. Told them he wouldnt be driving the mustang. But agent said it doesnt matter, since he is on the policy he will be insured on all my cars. But they did give us the rate for the car he mainly drives, an 88 T-bird I got him.

I pay an extra $1400 a year for him,(without any discounts), on our 2010 Fusion, 1994 F-150, 2007 Mustang and his 88 bird. But if he keeps his grades up and no tickets or accidents, discounts take to only $89 extra month for him added. With out discount its like, $120 a month. Told him he better keep grades up or will be riding the BUS.. :owned2:

Bad thing is, juts added him and will have to add my daughter next year when she starts to drive:asshat:

my dad bought a 73 challenger and put me as the primary driver on it. it sat in the shop while we re built it. i was driving a 2002 chevy Z71. i gave him $28 a month for insurance.

thats pretty much what my dad did... but i was a primary driver of a 1984 Ford Ranger and drove a 1997 F-150 in 1999... the F-150 was my secondary vehicle... i don't know the exact amount but someone offered my dad a couple of thousand for the ranger and he said for what that truck was saving him insurance wise on two 15/17 year old boys driving two new (at the time) full size trucks he would have to keep it...
