I know the basics. Fuel pump, plugs, and tune. My question is, can the stock 3v motor handle a 175 shot? I see guys running 75(I am currently), 100, 125, and a few on 150. But I can't find anything on anybody running a 175 shot. Can it be done?

Lol. Well I wouldn't even contemplate it but a buddy of mine recently bought an 01 gt that has almost a full 03 cobra swap. I say almost because it's an auto and has a Mach 1 bottom end. But he's been giving me shit about last Friday at the track when he ran 12.41@114 to my 12.60@111. Even though I was on stock size street tires and he was on 275 toyo dr's. So I besicly want to drag his 4v a$$ down the track on street tires then laugh at him.

Good luck if you try it. I wouldn't even think about it. :cowboy: Most I did was 125

More depends on delivery method and how much torque it would make. Nitrous has a much more nasty punch to it than even an over-spun roots blower. I'm most certain you wouldnt want to use a nozzle. Direct Port would be the safest, but more complex and expensive. Best bet is a fogger plate. I idolize the HSW plate personally. Also with that much nitrous you'll drain the fuel rails hard on the initial hit, I'd suggest running a dedicated fuel cell for the nitrous only. That way you could run 100 octane to help stability. Irregardless, the initial hit of a 175 is gonna be violent on the internals, you'll be playing with fire. I made over 80rwtq with a 75 shot, and considering the FRPP manifold, that's a good torque gain. Once you start hitting 450-500rwtq using nitrous against stock internals, you're on severely borrowed time. Nitrous does not spool up, does not build, and does not squish like boost. Nitrous is right now, kick you in the nuts, and you'd better hang the fvck on. You put that much instant torque shock to powder pressed internals, something will give, sooner or later. Not to say that you won't get away with it. But trust me on the nozzle, I wouldn't go over 150, you'll have a serious risk for puddling.

Be sure to video yourself hitting a 175 shot on street tires and stock internals. I need a good laugh today. In all seriousness, that much nitrous is a different ball game than a little 75 shot. Your tune and everything else would have to be spot on and then still you are asking for trouble.

Some people seriously can't get over another car being faster than them, to the point that they will risk their engines to just beat them.
I don't get it or maybe I'm just don't care enough lol

It'll shut him up and stop the endless bragging. I'm waiting on my TA's tranny to get done or I'd go ahead and walk him in it and do it n/a.

an old member of Modular fords used to run a 175 shot. Every time he ran it, the nitrous puddled in between shifts and it blew the intake tube off the manifold.

He did eventually get the tuning sorted out to avoid that and ran 11.2's i believe wit ha full race suspension and bogarts and slicks.

I also believe he popped the motor IIRC

im lost, he has an 01 GT, with a mach 1 shortblock and an auto? or does he have an 03 cobra swap?
2 completely different setups?
they are not the same unless he has built the mach 1 aluminum block. if he has built the block then your screwed. he can just up the boost/fuel and run your ass down. then its like running an 03 cobra, they are just a pulley swap from kicking your ass.

my suggestion is post a timeslip and your mod list and maybe we can find a way to get you a little more to edge him out. or just up your car to 100-150 hit and see if it holds. you said you were at a 75, so up it to 100 and see what you get.

are you full boltons? have you looked into a sleeper set of cams like some NSR's? have you tried removing some weight(trunk, jack, spare, rear seats), have you tried drag radials?

It's an 01 GT body. The computer has been reflashed to an auto Mach 1 and tuned for the blower. He's running double supercar pumps but is running a single fpdm and a bap. It's a full stock 03 cobra top end(heads, cams, blower), stock mach 1 bottom end(10:1 compression and all). 03 cobra IRS, exterior, and interior. It was said to make 411 rwhp unknown rwtq. It's running a stock heat exchanger and stock cobra pulley. My timeslips can be found in the 1/4 timeslips thread. I'm not full bolt-ons. I have a jlt 2 cai, gt500 tb/bbr adapter, steeda cmdp's, upr o/r x-pipe, welded in glasspacks, 160* t-stat, diablo tuner/jpc 93 n/a tune(I pulled timing for n2o), prothane mm's, upr uca, edelbrock lca's, umi lca relocation brackets, 22mm rear sway bar, and front sway bar removed. I haven't taken out weight with spray yet but will next chance I get. The car, for whatever reason, doesn't weight transfer very well n/a and only a little bit better on spray. My best 60ft on the 75 shot was 1.97.

150 shot will be the safe line for the stock bottom end. With the correct amount of timing removed, correct spark plug, enough fuel pump, and correct air fuel it may be just fine. But its all really about the tune up and the right parts for the job.

Can you be more specific about your tune up and what fuel upgrades you have?
