The last week and a half I have been wrapping up the final touches in my attempt to make 1000RWHP and run 200+ in the Texas Mile. Even though I feel short on both goals, the data we have shows promise.
Last Tuesday, Manuel(Lito) arrived and we strapped the car down in the dyno. At 15.5 psi we made 816RWHP@6500 rpm, we turned boost as high as 21 psi but were only able to made 909RWHP@5600 on a loaded Mustang Dyno. Notice the boost went up but power peaked at a lower rpm ? I need to get a bigger down pipe, it appears I am making way to much for the stock Hellion kit is capable of. We also found the limit of 2- 465 pumps, at 900RWHP fuel pressure was dropping but A/F remained good. After some diagnosing, I found I had a bad connector. I thought it was a bad pump but found problem to be in the connector. Thanks to JPC for overnighting me 3-465 pumps in case I had problems. Once all 3 pumps were working, I was all good with JPC Triple hat and ID1000s. Manuel tuned another local car that made 700+ on 14psi and Thursday morning we loaded the RV and headed south 120 miles for the race.
For those who don't the Texas Mile is a event where you are see how fast you can go in a Mile. You cannot go out and just run, they require you to make controlled runs working up to the limit your car is Tech'd for. In my case, my car had all the safety requirments needed to run as fast as 214mph. My 1st pass needed to be between 145-165MPH and 2nd needed to be between 185-199MPH. The 1st pass was a breeze and really made it seem like the car would have no problem doing 200+, I was never full throttle and babied car to 156. The 2nd run proved to be different, I had to feather the throttle in 2nd gear to limit tires spin and at the top of 3rd I was hazing the tires. Once I hit forth I could really feel the car pull, just as I was getting comfortable, a cross wind pushed me over about 10 feet to remind me it wasn't a drive in the park. I felt the car nose over and thought it was back pressure, I shifted to 5th and car recovered and started pulling again. Datalogs showed I was going 180 at the top of 4th, I lost 6 MPH by the time I hit 5th and car made it back up to 184.5 at the finish.

I am parking car in garage for a week and will begin regrouping, I am first going to try and have a bigger down pipe made and possibly incorporate a dump for racing conditions. If that doesn't reduce back pressure, I will get a Twin kit. My goals are to keep the car 100% street, with everything Ford sold it with to better. The car weighs about 4100#s with me in it, that is with 6 pt roll bar, sub box in trunk and a full tank of fuel. I could reduce it easily 300-400lbs but running less fuel, removing passengers seat and removing the side bars(only required to have a 4pt bar) but I really feel the weight helps traction.
I am having a lot of fun with car, the speed rated tires suck but I will get 3.31 gears and the DRs on soon. I feel that once back pressure is reduced, 1000RWHP is a realistic number to expect. With 1000RWHP, the 200mph goal is also realistic. As I told Manuel, I could go to a dynojet and easily have my 1000RWHP number. I am not so much chasing a number as much as I am wanting the number to have overkill power to run 200MPH.
Thanks to Maximum Velocity in San Antonio,Texas(racerat), without their help and support my body would not support the work required to build this car. JPC/RGR for getting me the motor that will stay together at this horsepower level and for guiding me on the parts and pieces needed to make the power.
The man I cannot thank enough, Manuel Pazo(Lito). Manuel has always responded immediatly to text messages, got me answers needed to solve my problems and given me a lot of help with instrumentation needed to datalog and monitor proper tables. I could not have done this race without his help either, he was there to help me jack up car and torque everything after each pass, load car on trailer(one of the hardest tasks of weekend) and set up RV and camp.
I also cannot forget my better half, I have been on vacation for 2 weeks and she has seen me less than if I was working. She has never complained or bitched about the mistress and was great support during the entire event.
This forum has also been a great help, it seems like we can always get different answers or solutions to any problems we might have with our platforms. Here are a few other pictures from the race and I will post incar videos later in the week.
