If you don't mind my asking, how much did the dyno mat and pad cost?

A box of 9 sheets of Dynamat is $138 (Dynamat 10455 18" x 32" x 0.067")
I used one box for the trunk and another for the cabin.

A box of the Dynapad is $102 (Dynamat 21100 DynaPad 32" x 54" x 0.452)
I used one box for the trunk and I bought another for the cabin, but I have not yet used it...but I'm sure I'll use all of it between the floor and what used to be the back seat.

As you can tell I did not cover all the surfaces. I tapped the panels looking for the hollow tinging sounding areas and applied Dynamat. Ideally, like you see on the TV builds, they actually cover all of the interior surface.

To apply the Dynamat, you will need one of their rollers. I highly recommend it.

Update:

The one box of Dynapad was not enough to cover the cabin floor. It was only enough for the passenger side and part of the driver's side. You would need at least 3 boxes to cover the whole cabin floor (including the rear seats).

The industry standard on dynamat now is to only use 25%-30% coverage. Remember, it is to absorb resonance and increase panel mass, not block sound. The dynaliner or MLV (Mass loaded vinyl) is now the standard for actually blocking sound waves.

Now if you use a hybrid layered product, then full coverage is appropriate.

I got a quick question.

Are you guys familiar with the gussets in the interior? Well long story short I broke a bolt; head snapped right off.
I would like to take it out, but not sure how to. I thought about drilling it out, but then rethreading it will be touch due to access.
Not sure what to do.

I guess I could leave it without that bolt, but ideally I want to replace it.

Any ideas?

What kind of gusset? What exactly are you talking about? It could be anything.

The only bolted gussets in the interior.
The ones located in the back seat, right between the two front seat belt attachment points.

What other word could you use to describe it besides gusset? Still have very little idea of what you're talking about. What does it do? What is its purpose? What does the bolt hold? The seat belt attachment points are on the floor.

edit- The pictures help. Have no idea, I never touched those bolts when installing Dynamat in my car. I didn't remove the seat belt retractors either.

Here is a picture of the gusset with the roll bar end sitting on it.

Well, I spent $100 between two EZ Out kits...
The one with the drill bits and reverse thread shanks and the fancy high tech bits that cut and thread the broken bolt in one shot.

I broke the tip of the reversed thread shank into the bolt... sigh

spin_prod_209079001

Reviews were spot on!! sigh

I even tried using the high tech ones which was useless (prior to the above one breaking)...

I ended up just drilling through and re-taping the hole and using a spare bolt I had laying around!!

What a relief!!!

If you use too small of an ez out they will break. I like Irwin for quality and cost. Like their taps too.
