Lol the new corvette has a 50/50 weight ratio. Doubt the mustang will ever out handle that. Had to say that although I would like to hope so as well.

How do you know that a car not yet revealed to the public officially that nobody outside of Ford has driven will not hold it's own against the Corvette?

because stated hp will be close stock vs stock and a nice tune will normally pull in 30hp and control arms will help put it to the ground..

and because I say SO!!!! :beerdrink:

Also I checked the web site and of course there is no 2015 but I can see x-plan prices and I'm lost, before it would be 1000s of msrp but now it looks lik 900-1200 only? something changed? also can dealer-ships not honor x-plan when the 2015s come out?

A performance tuned/forged/built 2.3L could get close to 50/50 with a good deal of power, though I know we're talking stock for stock, here.

Before the v8 purists come knocking, that little v4 ecoboost could be a definite performance motor for road race cars, if the chassis ends up being as good as its been said to be.

And who exactly will be making better control arms than Ford? I'm guessing you haven't realized that the S550 has very complex cast aluminum rear control arms that from a performance perspective leave very little to be desired.

I've been under the S550. I would have pictures but I had to check my phones before I was allowed in. It's a nice setup and will be better than the S197. But a Corvette killer.........not even close.:roflmao:

Not to mention the lower cg, magnetic dampers, electronic differential, factory diff and trans coolers, better aero, and likely bigger tires. And that's the big stuff.

The price tag alone ensures a vette will be better. But before someone says they can just dump 20 grand in mods and be better, there are some things money can't buy that a vette has. An equally prepped vette will almost always be better than a mustang. Its just physics.

Strange.....maybe auto-x is not a good test, but when we auto-x with the corvette club, guys who take it real serious....our crew ( all mustangs) , always come out faster. These are not bone stock vettes, some of them have some real money dumped into them and they are there every month so they are not bed drivers.

or get a s550 with tune and upper/lower control arms and whip a c7 and have 20K to play with.. ohh and not be a chebby traitor. haha

What? Can you not respect the new Vette? Sure its more expensive, but to say a tune and control arms will whip it is like living on fantasy island. The playing field between the vette and mustang is far apart since the shitty vettes of the 80's.

It'll take a lot more than a "tune and upper/lower control arms" to get on the same level as a C7 Vette.

:hammer:

Agreed

Yes and yes it would be nice if the Mustang could do that well, but the price points vary and the cars vary. One is a sports car and one is a pony car.

Doubt there will be any plan pricing for some time for the new models.

This. Cast aluminum arms take quite a bit of design and engineering. There won't be any mild steel bolt on stuff that will be better. Ford is progressing with its designs.

Sure. If you are using a Vette to auto-x that's fine but that is not what it is designed for. It is designed for the street and road course. I never really judge much by "parking lot racing" for seconds at a time.

Put those same mustangs and vettes on a road course and see what happens. Given that the driver skill (mod) is comparable.

I don't think dodging cones is a good test venue. AutoX has very little to do with driving on the big tracks.

And driver skill can make up for a LOT. A well driven Mustang should be able to run as good or better than a Corvette with a so so driver.

If you want to test pure handling, I dont think there is a better venue than autocross but like the new 5.0L Mustangs, high HP requires high grip to work properly. A well setup Vette for autocross usually has compromising alignments (gobs of rear toe in for instance) to hook up what power it has. Add in A6's and things get more complicated but I would put my money on a SS vette being faster than an FS Mustang any day of the week, same for SSP vs ESP.

Road course will always have a power friendly attitude for poorer handling cars so it is a bit of a wash.

Are you referring to the fun we were having with the grand sport at Gingerman with my car when it is lightly prepped? Got him so agitated he shifted to hard and thew a belt. LOL

Yeah, that guy ran out of talent, LOL!

It must be embarrassing to claw back 4-6 car lengths every time the track gets straight but still not be able to get to the bumper of the car in front of you. And I wasn't even driving hard! Poor Corvette guy.:naughty1:

Broke dafuk down

well.. I could live with it if the performance made up for the 2-door taurus styling (almost looks like a slightly less prissy Jaguar).. and price needs to be reasonable. That does not look like a $70k car to me

Edit.. Nope changed my mind already. Looks like Euro-trash. Maybe skippy on BBC will enjoy it but not for me. Let me know when the American version is released

Lol. I think ur being too harsh Crown. It looks good in the front. I just hope they don't mess up the back. Put me down for a 2019 model. But I might wait to see what the 2020 model looks like first. Lol.

I will always be a fan of yellow stangs first and foremost, but do you really like that "thing"? It's just a beefed up, more aggressive version of a Fusion - with two doors of course.
