I thought about this type of project several times. If I had gone with it, I would do a big bore/stock stroke. You'll get factory like longevity and you won't put excessive side loads on the pistons. just my 2 cents....

i hate to say it, but this is where SD always had a lot of valuable input. too bad things went awry.....

I would do a big bore/stock stroke

this is probably what he would have said. if i ever do a build, i would probably do this, or the big bore/stroker

The 5.4 has the potential to make 750hp safely ie the supersnakes, I can't say the longevity or reliability would be the same building a high compression basically n/a race motor.

After some research, it looks like it is possible to Big Bore 5.4 which yields 358 cubes and still be able to use 3V heads. That would make some torque. Would the 4V heads make that much more power than a well ported set of 3V heads though ?
