Went out in my wife's 2012 Mustang GT automatic. D/A was ~6300ft.

Best time before on stock 235 tires was 13.0@111mph. I put on some 28x11.5x16" hoosier QTPs.

Car ran consistent 13.1@108-109. Tires are just too big for it. Couldn't even do a burn out. They would spin for a second, then just hook and the car would bog down. I need to sell these tires and get some 26"s.

Just goes to show you can overtire a car and slow down. Spinning all over on a stock all season radial I was faster. The car makes ~320rwhp uncorrected at our elevation (380rwhp SAE) and that just isn't enough. I don't want to add power or gears so I will sell these tires and grab some 26s and see how it does then.

Options are sell the tires and get some 26" or maybe put some gears. I wonder if 3.55s or 3.73s would kill the highway mileage. I need to drive the car to Socal in a few weeks and don't want to kill gasmileage since the mustang is basically a cruiser.

Very nice times up here, any mods besides tires? I'd change tires and keep the 3.15's, the gas mileage of these cars on the highway is too nice to give up.

My car running a 28" slick and stock 3.15 gear:

What you need is a good tune, not less tire.

Is your car turbo? Pretty sure the op is bone stock aside from his drag radials... How would your comparison help him at all?

Really?

In the 11.88 vid it had a tune and tires/wheels. Everything else on the car was stock. It is directly relevant to the OP.

Except that because of elevation I'm making 60rwhp less than you. Like I said, actual numbers are ~320rwhp. That is with a good tune. Factory it was ~290rwhp. I don't think it will 60' well with the stock 3.15s and a 28" with 320rwhp. I can add 80rwhp and it would probably be fine, or probably just do gears.

Well not sure what to do. I don't think dropping to a 26" tire will be enough. Probably keep the 28"s and just put some 3.55s or 3.73s in it and see how that does.

gotcha, I just watched the imbedded version, didn't see any of that stuff. guess that turbo was on the other car. but like said above, altitude is way off

I've got 26x11.5x17 mt et street 15 passes on 05-09 gt takeoffs. 15 passes on em I'll trade straight up for your wheels/tires if similar life left in them. Pay own shipping

Already got a local guy buying the 28"s for what I paid. I'll just pick up some et streets for them or sell the 16" wheels and do the 15" racestars like I planned.

As soon as I get back from Cali I'll do some 3.73s. 4.10s would be a bit too much for my wife.

Unless they drive 60mph all the time, that's hard for me to believe.

4.10s are not a proper gear for our autos. 1st gear would be stupidly useless. I wouldn't suggest going past 3.55 unless you are rarely on he highway or just don't car about mpg at all.

The difference between 3.55 and 3.73s on the highway is ~140rpms. Not really enough to be concerned about. With us living at high elevation, the car only makes 320rwhp and even if I add headers and a boss intake it may make 350-360rwhp. I'll make up my mind later on the exact gear ratio but 3.73s seem like the best option. 4.10s are not even a consideration.

That's some seriously good miles if authentic for a 4.10. All highway?????

Your buddy's run was a twin to my 11 when it was stock. Even the same DA. You guys in GA?

Sold the 28" hoosiers and ordered some 26" ET street radials. Should be better. Once I run those I'll swap gears and start looking at a converter.
