If your doing a lot of highway use you want a OD. I mainly drive my car to the track and back (10 miles one way) and maybe 50miles a week on the street. With that limited driving, I always use my OD. I tried before not using it when rewiring switches and hated it. Id say if using it on the street a lot go with the 700r4 cause of the OD. But between a properly built th400 and a 700r4 and th400 will out last it. If you have a low gear in the rear than it wont be so bad without a OD. But key is highway driving.
I still love my 4R70W.

I bought a ATI competition turbo 400 tranny with a custom converter for the street to put behind a 298 stroker with a precision 76mm billett and ball bearing. I plan on using a 3.08 gear ratio in the rear as turbo's love loads. That way I could still drive on the hwy or around town. It was also cheaper to go the 400 route.
