Hi,
I have my rearend down for changing a bad pinon bearing, when i´m at it I also wanted to shim the clutch packs to get it a bit tighter (I have around 0.03-0.035" och end play in axles now). Been looking around for loose shims to buy, but can´t find them anywhere affordable (shipping overseas).
I was thinking if it is possible to add an extra shim from the carrier shim pack, I have a lot of those laying around from recent gear change. The only problem is they are not quite the same outer and inner diameter, but they will fit the splines of the spidergear. Do you think this will be a problem?
See the picture for what I mean, will this work if i put the smaller shim facing the carrier housing?

I would hesitate to add anything to the clutch pack as Ford has a specific arrangement for the plates. I bought a rebuild kit for mine for about $110 that has thicker than original shims. I think it was from LMR.
