In a quest to plan the best N/A setup, has me thinking about a ported CJ intake setup. However, every build I see with a CJ setup has Longtubes or at least a upgraded shortys.

In Gremin's thread about the actual gains of LTs on a bolt-on car ( http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111564 ), the corrected numbers were 15 rwhp. My understanding that a big majority of that gain was contributed to losing the cats and I would love to see 2 identical cars baseline on the same dyno on the same day, one install a O/R midpipe and the other a catless LT setup; but I doubt we will see that.

My questions is since everyone seems to think LTs are not a wise mod for the dollar, how does everyone think these two setups would differ power wise> ?

Setup 1:

-CJ Manifold
-Rev Auto CAI
-Long tube with O/R X-pipe

Setup 2:

-CJ Manifold
-Rev Auto CAI
-O/R H-pipe

The second one is my choice, by upgrading to parts that show solid gains.
However I love to hear people's input on this.

Keep in mind I read comments on here all the time about how LTs are only really beneficial when going FI.

When you bolt on parts NA every hp or ft/lb counts, because anything short of slapping on a blower is minuscule.

Can you not get LT's for like $500?

When I had my M90 I saw good gains (almost 15hp) just by deleting the cats. I never went to long tubes until I had the TVS and was pushing 570hp. At that point the stock exhaust was becoming a restriction.

The coyote stock headers are very efficient.
Just delete the cats and put a off-road x-pipe on.
I have the exact combo you posted as option #1. I also have cams etc. and I don't feel the headers gained much at all.
Yes N/A every little bit helps but cost is high for the small gain.

I agree with this. After finding out the results myself, I feel the off-road X-pipe is all that's needed on a Coyote motor. If I was planning to stay NA, I'd be pissed about the money and time I spent puting long tubes in. You'll be within a couple HP and just a few wheel tq with just the off-road x-pipe.

Although, according to OP's sig and whatnot, it does not look like he has a coyote mustang???

Honestly, there are people out there making 20-30 HP with a tune on LT O/R setups. For the money spent you can get Jegs cat delete pipes and get similar numbers in going with something like the MRT O/R Pipes. With the Shorties people are seeing about a 12HP improvement while maintaining their stock cats from what i am remembering. It's honestly up to you, people are seeing .2-.3 1-2 MPH improvements from Long Tubes with a tune so it is really up to you.

I would go with option 1 but with an H-Pipe instead of an X but that is just my personal preference.

I think the 3V was totaled or something

Kdanner has nothing but good things to say about the Stepped headers that they offer. You can probably dig up a couple of posts from him about what kind of improvements that they made with his or WBT's car.

Pypes LT's for these cars are tits. If you want all your car can do NA then get the headers, if not, stick with the stock stuff. I want all I can get with the bolt on stuff. I'd eventually like to do the CJ intake, but my Boss IM was a gift so it works :)

I say it's worth it, it's only money.
