I have a base 2013 GT, so my mustang didn't come with a garage door opener. Am tired of having the garage door remote. So I bought the sun visor that has the built in door opener. Its the newer style I noticed with a picture of a house (like the 2014s) so it must be a House link system not the other car2u (or something like that) system. I did a bit or research and am stuck. Basically I hook it up follow the manual for the car2u system and then found out after searches its a Houselink system (at least appears that way). Well my garage door doesn't still even recognize that and maybe its because I need to add a transmitter? I don't know what the garage door system needs to work, I just assumed it was a universal remote built in the sun visor but starting to look otherwise. So what am asking is, the sun visor is it, its own universal remote? Next if its not, what other equipment do I need, just a transmitter (if so where does it go)? Also am assuming its all plug and play as the new sun visor used the same wiring harness?

Most cars that have that universal remote link, when you go to link them, you aim the garage door opener at the front bumper. Maybe there is a sensor there that you are missing to make this work.

Mine 2013 did not come with the home link, bought the visor from Tousley, it was plug and play; IIRC I had to link the home link to the hand held transmitter first and after that program the visor to the garage door via the pushing of the purple button on the garage door opener head unit.

^^^ Same way I did mine, I have a homelink mirror. Held the button of choice down on the homelink and my garage door remote simultaneously. Then programed homelink to garage opener per opener directions. On mine you push a red button on the opener then you have approx. 30 seconds to hit the homelink button.

So then its all built into the visor and no transmitter? If so maybe am just not following the directions correctly. Plus later I'll post a pic of what mine looks like to make sure I have the unit I say I do have.

Yes; all built into the visor, if you pull back your headliner there should be a plug taped to the roof that you plug into.

Thanks, that's a big part cleared up and helps out a lot. Yes i did plug in the visor. Next I maybe not following directions correctly then. I will post later picture of my sun visor to make sure I have what I claim I have so I get the correct directions.

I did the visors in my 07 and my wife's 08, mine did not have the little house on them though. I just went to you tube and found a video on how to program them.

I had to hit the program button on my garage door opener motor.

I tried several times holding the two out side buttons for 2 seconds. Then hitting the learn button on my garage door opener, then hold one of the buttons (on visor) while it flashes same time my garage door is flashing in learn mode and it just isn't picking up the signal. But that is the instructions for the car2u system and think the visor I got is the newer house link system.

What kind and how old is the garage door opener?

They where installed in October when had the garage built. Its Overhead Door (brand) model 1026 and in the book it says there homelink compatible but no instructions on how to set a car up as guess every make and model is different.
