Bigger bore, shorter stroke will generally mean an engine that is suited for high RPM's. There are many benefits to running a larger bore/piston as mentioned. The Livernois unit may be similar to the 2013 5.0 N/A CJ engine in bore/piston size. Trying to confirm that....

I just reread the post that Rick@Livernois posted and he said that it was the same process for the Big Bore Blocks on the Cobra Jet so I am assuming that they mean the modular blocks and not the 428 Blocks that Ford Racing was selling for NHRA Eliminator Classes. Also I believe I remember a couple of people saying that this was the biggest you could bore the 5.0 to but I am seeing if I can find where I read it.

I don't want to spread any false information, but I would bet that Livernois does the work for that CJ powerplant.

You bet they work very closely with Ford. I recall seeing the CJ intake being tested on one of their cars sometime last year. Fun stuff.

Confirmed that the 5.0 N/A CJ motor uses a 94mm bore, 3.70in. Same as the Livernois item linked however not the same internals.

You might not want to stroke it if your going to turn high rpm's due to piston speeds being raised.

Most of the serious modular drag racers leave it at stock cubes or close to stock CID and just raise compression and boost.

Kinda....

The serious racers that make "big" power, utilize various combinations of parts/engine sizes.

The stroke thing....well, the 5.4 Modular Engine is the best platform to choose, when considering an N/A application. It has a 4.165 stroke IIRC, much more stroke than a 4.6. The fastest, most powerful N/A modular engines in the world utilize a larger stroke than the factory 3.54" stroke featured in the 4.6 engine.

The highest powered N/A Modular engines are typically always 5.4 based.

There are 1-2 guys that have been able to achieve mid 500's on a 4.6 based engine, both were 3.7" bore and 3.75 - 3.80 stroke. Both are also very questionable, as they were using "questionable" dynos. Even if the dyno read high, it doesn't compare to the 600+rwhp that has been made N/A, with a 5.4 through an automatic trans.

Way to much fuss is made over stroking a motor. Most people stick with factory spec's due to cost and availability of parts. Longer stroke works better with larger bore. As long as you keep the ratio close ( SQUARE )there aren't any problems. There are 100's of bore/stroke combinations on the streets. And most V8's are built on the same angle.

Very True!

The 5.4 cannot go without merit though. It is the most common choice for Ford when building a powerhouse-specialty car.

Agree, I have a big bore , stroked 5.4 , but could not finish and get it into the car after job layoff

That .24 of extra bore is very significant. It may seem small but there are 8 cylinders, could you picture increasing your exhaust tubing size by a quarter of an inch per cylinder?
Just look at the coyote, the heads are great but they would not be near as effective, hence the 100 hp increases from only 21 cubic inches, without the increase in bore size.

That is what I was thinking but me not knowing much about motors or cars in general I wasn't sure if that would be the case multiplying the extra bore size for every cylinder.

Hey got a question if I would just forge my stock block at stock stroke and the whipple do you know the most hp I can pull out of it you guy seam to know a lot of the stock stroke builds .
