You can sign up on www.amsoil.com and become a preferred member for $10 every quarter I think. Maybe 6 months. Prices are a good amount cheaper if you sign up. You may need to enter the name of a local dealer you went through in order to qualify. Cannot remember.

The 6 month $10.00 trial can only be selected one. After that, it's $20.00 per year membership fee only. It's worth every penny. With a preferred customer membership, you buy all Amsoil at dealer cost saving you an average of 25% off of the shown retail price. The link below will give you more detail about becoming a preferred customer.

Simple to add this to your cart before checkout, when you do it changes all the prices in your cart to dealer cost.

Isn't that the same thing? $10 for 6 months or $20 for a year?

Exactly the same, but some people think they are only going to try Amsoil thinking it's not better than what they are buying off the shelf, so they opt for 6 months. When they give it a fair run, they get hooked, and renew with one year.

Do the one year option the first time, and forget about the "trial".

Than again if you really wanted to be a cheap ass and save $10 you could... Just order everything you'll need for the year. Although if you're that cheap you probably should just stick to Motorcraft at Autozone.. :chainsaw:

^^ Good point.

Once I log in, my preferred prices appear immediately.

I'm actually going to be ordering some 0W20-0W30 oil in the next week or so for my 05.

Amsoil is def. good stuff. You will like the product.

Actually, if you signed up for 6 months and then went in with a bunch of friends on it, you could all potentially just split up the membership fee so long as everyone ordered a batch together.

So, a bit off topic and I'm not trying to be a smart ass or anything. I do agree amsoil is good oil. However. What is the deal with their marketing scheme? It's horrific to say the least. It seems like a pyramid scheme and then, they have set up a bunch of websites masked as 3rd parties praising their products and use fake testimonials.

Well, the Amsoil Signature Series 10w30 went in there yesterday. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't tell a difference. LOL :p

LOL, and if you got like 100 people to go in on the 6 months trial you would only pay $.10 and than if you ordered a lifetime supply of oil you would never have to pay again! LOL :p

How is it a pyramid scheme? Are you talking about because they have dealers that get a cut of the people who become preferred customers? What websites are you talking about though?

Either way, it couldn't make any difference to me. I'm happy with their oil. Amsoil and Redline are without a doubt the two best companies to go with when it comes to oil in my opinion.

I'm thinking of trying Amsoil next time I do an oil change. I would use Redline, but their stuff is EXPENSIVE. It's $11 for a gallon of oil! Does anyone have a source for Redline?

well $11 a gallon is cheap. :poke:

what do you think Amsoil costs if you don't get a preferred membership and or buy it over the counter.

Amsoil is sold through a dealer network because back in the early 1970's the huge retails would not sell it. If you were not a big oil company like Texaco, Shell, Chevron, or ExxonMobil, they would not sell your oil on the retail shelf.

The owner of Amsoil adopted a dealer network, which is not a typical multi level marketing layout. It was setup to work best with no conflicts. The process was a success, and turned Amsoil into what it is today.

Now the retailers welcome Amsoil with open arms due to their success, but the owner says NO! He will not turn his back on the dealers who gave so many years of dedication to turn this company into one of the best.

Anyone who still wants to argue that Amsoil isn't top quality, just let me know. I have more than one link to provide where my testing alone in a GT500 has put everything else to shame.

You mean you couldn't tell the difference between a petroleum based 5W-20 versus a true synthetic 10W-30? Just helping to clarify for those who love to interpret things in different ways.

That's good news, and means your engine loves the difference.

I'd love to run amsoil, its just pricey, a little overpriced IMO. If anyone has a hook up let me know.

I love how people say that, but considering you can buy it at dealer cost as a preferred customer. It's really cheaper than what you buy on the shelf.

For instance....

Amsoil ATM 10W-30 (which I recommend for hot climates in the 4.6L and especially supercharged applications)

it's $9.75 per quart at retail price

it's only $7.50 per quart at dealer cost (preferred customer price)

That's $1.50 per quart cheaper than Royal Purple on the shelf, and only .50 cents per quart more than regular Mobil 1.

Not to mention you have an oil that would perform a severe service schedule of 15,000 miles easy.

but I need to pay that money to get the preferred cost.

So for an initial purchase at $7.50 a quart x 8 quarts for my 5.0 thats $60 + the Preferred customer sign up which is $10. So $70. So Technically, I'm spending $10 to save $18, but a net savings of $8.

Now granted if I needed to change my oil twice in that time span, it may pay for itself some.

I am just looking at it realistically. I can buy 5qts of Mobil 1 usually for $30.

I am not debating which is a better oil though, I am well aware you get what you pay for.
