I know they're just emoticons or whatever but the mental images that come with them are just WRONG!

I'm really enjoying following this build!

Bitches!!!

On a cruise with my lady and 6 other real friends!!!

Anyways, no updates. Got one header on before the cruise. The last bolt wouldn't go in and when I was loosening them on of the Stage 8 bolts snapped in the intake. So I left it until after the cruise. So tomorrow I will hit it hard and hopefully have all the header stuff done.

Well bad news is a Stage 8 (grade 8) header bolt snapped off in the head . Today I removed the kmember and lowered the motor a bit to attempt to drill the snapped bolt. The bolt is to hard for me to drill. I am going to have to pull the motor and have the head machined. Not something I was looking to do.

Just added a couple more months on the build.

Shit man... Sorry to hear that. Setbacks always blow.
When it's all done its going to be even more of a monster though!

Yeah, I have to look at the budget and things. See if it's just time to do the internals while it's all apart. :/

More investigating...

Well for your benefit... I hope you can swing doing internals. That mammoth wouldn't know what to think.
Thanks again for all the help on my swap. If I was local it would be an honor to meet you and give a helping hand.
I can't believe the grade8 snapped *scratches head*

I'm a small guy too. I don't have the muscle to break one. In fact two more still won't back out and I've applied a good amount of pressure to them and they haven't broke. Seems like I found the weak bolt.

That's just ridiculous. Sorry to feed the fire, but the point of getting those are to not have these type issues.
Maybe they were improperly labeled? Hopefully there will be another solution than machining.

Definitely wouldn't expect that from a Stage 8 bolt. I feel your pain though - I've had to do the same when a couple rusted header bolts snapped off a 04 Cobra. We ended up getting away with a pick and mallet.

In my experience stage 8 bolts dont do very well going through heat cycles. I know the bolts are designed for this but in the last 6 years i have broken more stage 8 exhaust manifold bolts than i care to count. Bruce i feel for ya man. What kind of drill bits are you using? Cobalt?

These were brand new bolts, no heat cycles no nothing. Just installed and backed out and broke. Now two others are siezed. Stage 8's phone number on the web page doest work.

I've decided to just pull it, take it apart, send everything to L&M and have it all built. Didn't want to spend the money but just makes sense right now.

And it's a good point was brought up. If a bolt will snap itself, what makes me think a easy out will hold up?
