So its time for my 3v to be blown XD! but as you can see the polished aluminum pieces look horrible.. any way my griots garage DA polisher can buff this stuff clean? i've even considered plasti-dipping it.. would that work as well? any information would be helpful as far as products and what not. I'm thinkin maybe use some compound and my cut pad or some mothers aluminum polish?

Eww. Who went at that thing with a scotchbrite pad? Looks pretty ugly. Good luck with the polishing/painting etc

If you have a strong enough compound and a good pad you will defiantly be able to at a minimum of clean it up. You can polish out minor scratches out of glass with M101 and a wool pad on my flex and glass is very hard. I think with M101 and a Microfiber(not wool) pad on your GG you will be able to polish it to an extent that it looks good at least. aluminum is very soft. I wouldn't sand it until you know for sure you cant buff it out. If you use to rough of a grit it may cause it to be harder to polish out in the end.

If you want a mirror finish for aluminum and to continue the theme with the rest of your engine bay you will need to sand it progressively and then buff it. Start with a 600 grit wet sand and if you can still see pits, try 400 instead. Then slowly work your way up to 1,500. Then buff it.

Powdercoating will ruin the theme you have under the hood.

we'll I'd love to powercoat it but I don't wanna have to take the head unit completely apart and risk getting something in it and what not. so Idk I guess i'll try to buff it first
