Finally saw moneyball and it was fantastic..

If you havent already, you guys should check out the HBO series Game of Thrones. Fucking badass..I just got through the first season on indemand...In 3 days, lol..After I saw the 1st episode, I was hooked. 2nd Season premiers on April 1st, cant wait..

I know it is several years old, but I just finished "The Mist". Excellent movie, but it has one of the most gut wrenching, depressing endings ever! Kudos to Frank Darabont for having the balls to do an ending like that.

Watched "This Means War" and "21 Jump Street" within the last few weeks. Both were quite funny and I recommend.

I also watched "Red State". It's on Netflix streaming. Pretty hot topic and well done.

I wanted to see Hunger Games but decided against it, and no theater is showing the raid so no movies for me.

Project X- not very good. It had some funny parts, but it just wasnt that good. Glad it was free(gift card to theatre)

Young Bruce Lee - It's not a martial arts film ... It's not even an action film... in fact, they barely touch upon his fighting skills and training as it probably wasn't the center of his life at the time. Still the few fight scenes it has are good but not exceptional. It's actually a Chinese film based on his life in China as recalled by his brother and sister. It was actually quite moving, I thought.

It's hard to really make a film about Bruce Lee without degenerating into caracature since he's such a vivid icon, but they managed to tell a very honest story. And the actor looks pretty damn similar to the real deal.

Cinematography was superb.

The Chinese title was "Bruce Lee, my Brother" which is probably more apt.

Highly recommended, but don't expect an action film.



Addendum - a lot of people and critics might be disappointed with this movie ... it doesn't have the typical moments showing him getting "discovered" nor does it have a grand dramatic arc. In fact, he comes across as a young man with pretty small scale conflicts. I took the film as a probably more accurate snapshot of a moment in his life.

I'm halfway though "The Bleeding House" ... so far it's a stupid movie. A family that isolates itself in their home for some inexplicable reason invites a stranger into the house then proceeds to open up to him with their family secrets and letting their guard down on every occasion. Of course he ends up being a psychopath and takes over the house.

e.g. the stranger comes into the teenage daughter's bedroom and starts chatting her up for information ... mom comes in and asks the daughter not to bother the man ... WTF? Any parent would say, "What the fuck are you doing in my daughter's room?" then proceed to fuck his shit up.

Rule #1. Any movie about stupid people doing stupid things is just plain stupid.

Subbed. I always watch subbed movies whenever possible - never dubbed. In the film you can see how events of his past may have influenced his later films. e.g. Japanese occupation of China may have inspired Fists of Fury.

A good old-fashioned adventure like Raiders of the Lost Ark. And the rendering of the guns was done with great care and detail from his Walther PPK to the Browning High Power he picks up later in the film. I also like how firearms aren't villified out of political correctness nor glorified. Good old-fashioned adventure.

I thought The Raid was great, with a LOT of original and amazing fight choreography and cinematography. The fight scenes were incessant and there is a huge amount not seen in the trailer, in fact, the best fight scene... which is bloody long... doesn't feature in the trailer at all!

If I had any criticisms, it would be that some of the fight scenes go on for so long that they get a bit samey by the end and that some of the CGI blood is a bit... err... crap.

Don't let that put you off though, overall it's very well done and is great fun

Oh, I forgot to mention, the soundtrack is awesome too... I always have either The Raid or Senna soundtrack playing when I'm driving to and from work at the moment.

Talking of Senna... well, F1...

I am a huge film buff... My favorites list is based on emotion... Films that capture you... When you are IN the movie and your life's troubles are no where in site... All of these films did that for me... None of them are your Hollywood type movies... Do not watch these if you want a happy ending
