Spiderman was pretty good. Like all the Marvel movies don't forget to wait for the final scene.

I wish they foucsed on how he balances school with being a hero. But this was more of an origin story.

Went to see Total Recall Friday night. I thought it was great, much better than the original, IMO. Of course, Kate Beckingsale and Jessica Beil may have had a little to do with that as well, lol.

That's blasphemy.

I'll see the new one for the effects and treatment but I expect an experience not unlike, say, Minority Report. The original was hilarious with a campy satire feel that only Verhoven can deliver. I'll kiss your ass if I end up liking it more than the original.

Yeah, I guess it was because I was kid when they original came out, but it just always seemed so cheesy and corny. The new one is obviously based in the same idea, but it is its own story. I haven't read the book(We Can Remember It For You Wholesale) but I heard that the remake follows the book much more closely that the original did.

Just watched Lawless. It was filmed here in Georgia,(including here in my county) so I was pretty excited to see some familiar places on the big screen. The movie is about Franklin Co., Virginia, during Prohibition. Apparently the movie is taken from the book "The Wettest County in the World" by Matt Bondurant, a descendant of a bootlegging family. It was a fantastic movie and I would definitely recommend seeing it.

Update: I finally saw Total Recall. It's pretty much exactly what I expected. They took the original story and stripped out all the subplots and complex character relationships and removed every ounce of irony or humor. So they just used the basic story as a backbone to hang lavish set pieces with special effects. It was a series of chase scenes punctuated by plot. I loved the effects but actually started falling asleep later in the film.

In a nutshell:
Chase Scene -> wakes up.
someone says, "Go to recall." someone else says, "Don't go to recall."
He goes to recall. -> Chase Scene
gets message from his phone -> Chase Scene
picks up clue -> Chase Scene
picks up another clue -> Chase Scene
meets girl -> Chase Scene
etc ....
