Anyone with '05/'06 and Whipple 10-rib kit, advice please.

I recently installed the Whipple 10-rib kit on my '06 GT. Install was smooth and everything seems to work well, but I have one concern. The left radiator hose sits right on top of the 10-rib tensioner. I mean, RIGHT on top. I'm afraid the movement of the tensioner will wear away at the hose eventually causing a leak. Has anyone else noticed this or, more importantly, found a remedy for it? My first thought is to try to change the orientation of that hose, but before I go draining the coolant, I'd like to know if anyone else has tried that and if it worked. Yuk. Can you re-orient the hose, rotate it so the bends/angels make it clear?

That's my plan. The car is sitting right now waiting for other parts, so I figured I'd ask and see if anyone else had been successful with that route before diving in. Draining, refilling and burping the coolant sucks, lol.

IMO you'll need to re-route that hose

Side note, u add a 10 rib set up and use a stock tensioner?

I add a 10-rib setup and use the tensioner that came with it. Looks like I'll be re-routing the hose. Hopefully I can figure out a way to make this work. Thanks!

That's just kinda $hitty! Looks like Whipple designed it for the 07 up coolant hoses and forgot all about the 05-06...not a real fan of just throwing a stock tensioner with weak spring rates on it either.

i dunno about the whipple but i got a steeda 10 rib and the spring rate on it is massive. i mean at least twice if nor more than my thumprrr had. from what i can see the steeda also wouldnt have that interfernce due to the more tightly confined and smaller bracketry and location of the tensioner.

so,,steeda 10 rib , 07 up crossover, or drain it and mod it to work. 1st 2 are gonna be expensive

I'm planning to try and reposition the hose this weekend. If that doesn't work, I'll price out a way to make the '07 crossover work. I'm sure the tension on the Steeda is more than the stock-style tensioner, but the tension with the Whipple kit comes more from the sliding idler than the tensioner itself. Belt wrap is plenty strong and slip is non-existant.

Success. I was able to re-orient the hose without draining the coolant. I put a couple of pairs of hose clamp pliers on each end of the hose and rotated it about a quarter turn at the crossover and about a third of a turn at the radiator. There is an extremely faint bend in the hose where it comes around the overflow tank, but I can't imagine it is causing any restriction. Now the hose is 100% clear of the tensioner and I only lost about 2 or 3 ounces of coolant while squeezing the hose to rotate it. Wish every problem turned out to be this easy to solve.

Done and done, lol.
Holding boost steadily to 6500 rpms. Definitely won't be missing that 6-rib setup!
