Dam that looks good! How does the surface feel, is it super slick?

I personally thought it would be slicker but it is slickish, but not like if sealed with a normal sealant. I plan to wash it in a week or two when it is definitely cured, and plan to top it with some FK425 which is super slick and see how long the slickness will last.

I didn't know whether you could layer a sealant and wax over OC. What made the PBL coating attractive is being able to layer over the top. Its not as slick as the coating by itself but with the other two in the mix (PBL Sealant & BF BlackICE) does seem to have a deeper gloss or my OCD could be playing tricks on my eyes lol!

Thanks for the info! I'm anxious to get this done but I have to wait for the penguins to march back to the arctic...

Now, hurry up and get the rest of the bits and pieces done so we can enjoy more Opti-Coat porn. :D

For someone who's WAY TOO LAZY to do this themselves, what might it run me to have a pro detailer apply to say an F150?

Like 28one said depends if you need a paint correction also but it also depends on your area. If your in NY it's going to be more then possibly Ohio.

Anybody have a code and/or suggestion where to buy that you guys support??

I usually buy from Autoality or Detailersdomain. Autoality really helps if you get the membership if you spend around 200 dollars a year you'll make more than your membership back in savings. I have a code for Detailersdomain for 10% if your interested pm me. He is a vendor on another forum I'm on. He does a lot of corrections and coatings and will be more then glad to help.

Superslow the car looks great. I was thinking of putting a coating on my wife's edge just for the longevity it has.

You can take it down with a good cutting pad, but it takes a lot longer.

An my prices are for full corrections & coatings

So, if I missed this (and I've read this thread)...can you apply wax and or sealant on top of OC with success?

If I missed the answer, I apologize.

Yes, after it cures fully. It basically is just like a clear coat that's applied by hand instead of a paint gun

^ Good question. Some people say yes, some people say no. A lot of people like to top it with other Opti products and claim success. I plan to possibly wash it this weekend and hit it with some FK425 (quick detailer that is super slick) and see if it makes a difference. I also plan to try a few different waxes and sealants so I will share my personal results. From what I have read, if you do top with a wax to help enhance the gloss, some waxes have a hard time sticking and do not last as long as they would when bonded to normal paint but do indeed make it glossy. OC is pretty shinny IMO so the need to top it is kind of up in the air on my car since it is Silver but I would still like to know for future reference. Maybe on a black or darker color car it would be more desirable.

Good to know. other forums claim it can be but the longevity is effected but still adds shine.

Surprised you don't have it in on the shelby...

Never looked into the stuff and it is garaged and usually never gets too dirty before I clean it. I will most likely look into it for both cars, as it seems to be great for black cars.

Yeah, I'm really curious. Mainly because I have just about a brand new can of CGs black and V7 at the house...lol.

i did the optic coat 2.0 and its easy to use. If your vehichle is how you want it paint wise. Like no paint correction needed. Here is my steps to what i did and it looks amazing

1. Dawn dish soap wash
2. Clay bar
3. Dawn dish soap wash again
4. Wipe down with Alcohol water mix. Mix and spray with spray bottle and do a wipe down.
5. opti coat

My $.02 on the opticoat is if you daily drive your car it is perfect, if not then there are better coatings out there. Gtechniq C1 topped with Exo v2 looks better, is slicker and beads and sheets better. Also Cquartz looks excellent too. Those are only 24 month rated coatings though. If you are putting the car in shows, you are probably going to polish the car more than once every two years anyways, so the longevity of Opticoat is irrelevant in that situation.
