I didn't know you needed to be a supporting vendor to be a mod of the classifieds. Or to be a supporting vendor you have to make x amount of sales, or if you don't make x amount of sales you aren't a vendor? Or, conversely if you make x amount of sales you have to be a vendor?

I did note that he is a supporting member, which means he has paid at least some money to the forums...

Well, here's how a deal of mine went with Caleb..

He had a Roush bumper w/ fogs/harnesses that he wanted to trade for a stock bumper plus some cash. After I had agreed to drive 8 hours from Little Rock to Dallas to do the swap, he tells me that he sold the fogs and harnesses locally, but that I was "still getting one hell of a deal." Sure, I'll agree with that, a Roush bumper for a long drive and a bill. The day after that, I put up a WTB ad for some Roush foglights. He sent me a message and told me I could have a set for $100. Assuming he had another set just sitting around, I told him that'd be fine, didn't give it a second thought and I fired up the PayPal. Turns out, he never even took the lights out of the bumper. A blatant lie, telling me that he had sold them locally. He had just bought the fogs a few weeks earlier and didn't want to lose out on money, I guess, even though his ad clearly stated that the lights and harnesses came with the swap.

Now, I understand Caleb has hooked many people up on here, but I won't do business with him again after that. I got the bumper and the lights without complaint, but I really feel that he shafted me.

I am with kuro on this one for the simple fact that we have one vendor on here that I bet makes less money than Holywd does selling parts on gere. I can't think of his name but the guy that does the led bulbs in the dash and radio parts, I bet he don't make much on them but has enough respect to the other vendors that he became one.

A buddy posted the first conversion I did and I got such a huge response to do it for others...I decided to ask Kimmer about it. His response was that of surprise. He said most people just start peddling thier stuff without giving a second thought to asking the sight owner's permission or offering to pay for the priveledge.

I don't make much money...but I don't mind paying the fees to help support the site and out of respect to the other vendors who are actually running a business and paying the vendor fees themselves.

The only thing aggravating about Caleb's for sale threads are....HE HAS 100 of them going at once...lol. Combine the threads man!! LOL

I posted a for sale thread once...20 minutes later it was 2 pages back because Caleb 'bumped' all his!!

I don't have a dog in this fight and rarely frequent the classifieds because I am one paranoid bastard. That said, Holywd you should really just not be too surprised that this type of thing has come up. To anyone with an IQ higher than 0 it is pretty obvious you run a bit of a small business buying and selling parts, whether or not you ever intend to use them for your own car.

Being that you were granted authority over the classifieds section, it is just good judgement and the right thing to do to be more cognizant of your actions and how they can be seen by other members you have a bit of control over. I'm not going to go to the lengths of some of the others to make you look like a shit bag because I haven't dealt with or been screwed over by you. My only point here, is deep down you have to know that having a measure of control over classified transactions should have led you to be extra careful and transparent about anything you personally are involved in a sale with.

Heightened responsibility and thinking of all possible outcomes goes with the territory you volunteered for man. It is a mistake on your part if you thought you could just proceed with business as usual after you took your classifieds moderator role. From MOST of what I have read about you, the vast majority of your interactions have been positive ones but don't be surprised about a little backlash when it's easily perceived you are doing things to better your position over other members to get parts to re-sell on the forum.
