BA5000 issue

I am having cold start problems with my whipple. A reputable tuner told me it is my MAF sensor BA5000 and cold start transient fuel table settings. What MAF sensor do I need at 600 rwhp?

The maf size depends on the intake tube size you are using. I have a slightly modified stock MAF in my car (which edelbrock ships with their competition intake kit) and I was around 600rwhp at the end of last year and still had plenty of maf left. The Edelbrock intake has a 4" housing that it is in fyi.

I'm confused. Is he saying the BA5000 is the issue, or that the transient fuel tables just need adjusted? I'm thinking he means the second item.

He said the resolution of the BA5000 for a draw through intake is low. He also stated that could influence the cold start fuel tables.

starting inplugged with cause the ECU to use the failed MAF tables. If the car is tuned right, these should have been adjusted during the course of building the tune so the car should start and idle with them.

I had MAF problems in my setup, due to a short run of straight piping the signal is fairly noisy. I went to the Abaco DBX 97 meter, http://www.abacoperformance.com/products.htm This unit is a wonder and can be programed for about anything, there are many files already available that match the selected MAF meters or it can be used and programed as a standalone. I have been very happy with mine.

Well that wasn't my experience when I tuned my Whipple. Just trying to help. You have the maf you need for your hp level. In fact the resolution is just about perfect.

What maf did your tuner recommend? I'd go with the one he has the most experience with.

The original tuner tuned for performance and ignored cold start. I contacted Jon Lund and that is what he told me. I am likely going to retune with either him or Amazon.
