So I hear an exhaust rattle, look under I hit my passenger cat and realize its rattling around like crazy so I need cats, of course when I dont have 500$ to spend now, what are my options? Besides getting some take off cats, I cant spend the money for a tune and longtubes or gut them so I need my OBDII working, any help is appreciated!! :mad2:

that stuff will blow out in a short time and the rattling will stop. the obd is just a monitor system, it still works regardless. sounds like you dont have a tune, so do you have a engine light on? with a tune they shut off the rear 02 sensors. i dont know of any other way to shut them off. unless you have emission testing, it might not be a problem. not sure on the v6 muffler if it would restrict the media from blowing out.

one of mine went out a couple years ago. the cool part is the oem cats come on the y pipe and it lists for $1,700, i think i saw them for around $1,200 at tousley ford online once. only other option is aftermarket, and thats just a hassle cause most dont come with sensor bungs, and they have to be cut in. used, your taking a chance of buying junk that wont last either unless you get lucky with low mileage parts.

check with your local dealer. seems like there is a separate warranty period for cats and you might get lucky. i dont recall the time frame or mileage. i think i found out too late or something for my car

That wont help him if he's in an emissions area and needs to have rear o2 sensors on to pass inspection. If there's no emissions inspections, then yeah, a tune to turn off the rear sensors will trick out the pcm and keep the CEL off.

yeah Im in VA so they are anal about emissions. I saw that magnaflow has some universals for my car with dual setup for about 100 a piece. As far as stuff blowing out, idk if it will or not it sounds like its just really fell apart inside, I dont have a code now or anything its just a rattle :ugh1:

1. get it inspected if it is due or wait until it is due.
2. THEN mess with the exhaust! You'll have more time to get it right without worrying about inspection.

I've used magnaflow high-flow cats on my stang for years. The hard part is adaption to the stock exhaust manifolds, as those angle down roughly 45*.

I put my cats farther back, where the pipes angle in toward the middle.

so if I can move the cats back and keep the o2 sensor in the same location I wont need a tune? Im thinking about just gutting the cats and buying a unmarried tuner from someone..be about the same amount of money. btw my inspection isnt due for awhile and thinking about it now, they never even checked my emissions so im good

you can have no cats on an untuned car all it will due is have a check engine light on for bad cats. the front o2 sensors are what alters the way the car runs and they're in front of the cats.

ya, if you tap on the exhaust system it sounds like its full of little nuts and bolts. mine blew out in about a week and got quite again. i had a h pipe and gt mufflers.

you can get extensions for the 02`s if you wanted to go aftermarket, move them back a little, and keep them. i would go with a tuner, get a tune and turn them off. we have safety inspections here, you have to have a cat(s) and muffler(s) but no smog testing. so we cant just delete them

i take it youve got high flow cats with a tune on yours? if you have them Ill take them off your hands, because right now aftermarket ones are starting to seem more of a pain than just getting some factory ones

I have one high flow cat, even though most people don't run cat's at all with a turbo's. Let me double check to make sure their both useable cats with my buddy. Just pm what your looking to spend, etc.

I picked up two high flow cats for 100 installed at my local shop. One of my stock cats blew out and I took it in. They were brand new and came with a year warranty.
