The horsepower numbers all by themselves don't bother me too much. I'd be much more concerned if the torque numbers were way up there too.

As it stands, I think James is going to be a happy camper when he finally gets his ass in the driver's seat.

Lets see...I could either spend the money on a supercharger, cams ,headers etc. etc. and have a 500rwhp car to drive and enjoy. Or as some guys think I should do is spend $7000 on putting a forged short block with stock cams no headers no super charger and about 300 hp in the car.
So I can either becareful and have a blast with a SC 500 hp car. Or have a 300hp forged motor that I can abuse the crap out of ..or park and not drive for a year or two when I can affored a sc etc.
Yeah I am not stupid I know the limits of a stock bottom end car. Breenspeed knows its limits and the car will be fine for how i drive with the stock bottom end. I looked into doing a forged set up. I could not affored it right now.
I bought the SC and cams on sale during black friday. I not only saved a bunch on parts but also got 1/2 off labor. This allowed me to do alot more to my car than I ever thought I could have done. The B302 was not on sale and does not have 1/2 off labor.
Having the car set up the way it is gives me motivation to save for a forged B302. Doing the forged block first I would have got bored with it and probably ended up selling in the fall.

No one said get a forged block first. We're just saying your stock block will let go sooner than you think. The only way you can prevent it is by not going WOT and staying out of boost--which gets you back to the same result as having a built block with no power adder.

Since when does a forged short block cost 7000?

$4000 forged short block
$1500 R&R engines
$450 cam install
$850 SC install
$200 Head work
ETC...

Now if I would have done it now I was already paying for the SC an cams install but still for me to do a forged block when I did the other work it was going to be another $6000 at least.
So to answer your question since when does a forged short block cost $7k? Since January

You said 7000 for the shortblock and cams, that's besides the point lol Looking forward to vids of your car when you get it back!

$7000 included cam install..labor only. The cams are almost $700 alone.
Yeah I am just very happy I got a whole big stack of parts installed. Brent manage to get 500rwhp out of it and it is going to be a blast to drive. We all know that pushing a stock bottom end to 500hp is a risk. I did what I could affored and got all the boxes of parts out of my garage installed.
I will post some videos when i get it. I do have a thread in the pictures foroum showing the car at an idle. It ended up with a different CAI than what was in the video. If you look at the Dyno sheet the first pull was with that set up. The second pull of 500hp was the second pull with the different set up.

As we both know there are just Un-Limited opinions and that especially holds true on Internet Sites.

Some, a few people might actually have factual information at times.

But generally speaking people just seem to want to have something to say and post.

And in those above cases their post/comments are from what they have read or a buddy told them or simply their opinion.

Let me see if I can post something here that will perhaps lift your Spirits a bit on your decision/decisions you just made.

I ran my Mustang with the (Stock) block and over 500 HP for a long time with Zero Issues and I drove it and put a lot of miles on it.

I also made runs down the 1/4 mile with it on occasions.

And this you will find interesting.
Sometimes when I felt like it I ran the crap out of it and shifted it Plus 6,500 RPM.
I even (Bumped) the Rev-Limiter many times when I had the 4.10 gears in it and on the street tires.

So enjoy your Mustang and leave the worries behind you.

If you don't install M/T Drag Radials under it and Dump the clutch at like 4-5 thousand RPM at a treated drag strip I think you will be A-OK.

If you don't mind me making a suggestion.
Keep normal tires on your Mustang.
The tires will (Break-Loose) way before the engine from (Torque) throws a Rod through the (Block).

The other thing that in the (Majority) of cases will save your engine is the Custom-Tune.
The Tune is the Life-Line of your engine.
Brent puts a Safe-Tune for his Customers so their engines will live longer.

Have Fun Buddy and save your $$$$$$ and one day then have a built short block installed.

Happy motoring.
Terry
