when i was out of town I loved getting pics from my wife during the process. typically I'm gone for about two weeks at a time for work so the changes were drastic when I would see them

More photos. Here is picture from the garage with my wife and son. Will be 2 in March. We are in the process of buying the lot next to our house on the west side. Our house faces south. Eventually will buy the lot behind us as well. Neighbor owns the lot to the east of us. Inspection I believe just finished and passed and down pour starts. Excited to see the roof go on and the framing to start!

And here is he back porch. Will be trussed roof on the porch as well. Will have a block knee knocker around it. In the future I will extend the porch toward where I was taking the picture from to the end of the house.

We dont build 8" thick brick walls lol. Those are for the basement or poured walls with brick veneer. That's all lol.

Up North we build our houses with wood! Looks like it's coming along nicely.

That's mind blowing to me cause I've lived in Florida my whole life and never would have thought a house would be made from wood.

Some people build block up here. Not many. Stucco doesn't work well up here either.

Stucco facades have become quite common again on new builds in southern Ontario, as an alternative to vinyl siding or brick veneer.

Over wood framing, of course.

Maybe stucco has been improved. It was having issues with moisture and mold in Western NY. Maybe it was how they were applying it. It's rare in my neck of the woods.

You nailed it on the head! Real (traditional) plaster is applied with wire mesh and cement works well just about every where. EIFS is the problem child. The a very few doing it the right. 99% of all those fail because the substrate wasn't prepped or water proofed correctly if they do it at all. It also has to have drainage, water will find a way in at some point. I am not seeing it as much here in the residential market but the commercial market is still going strong with it.

Lol sorry ment to clarify that. It's 2 inch polystyrene installed over a wood structure. Seams are mesh taped and coated. Last they apply multiple coats over the whole thing. Process varies based on desired finish texture. It's like getting a bad drywaller if done wrong. It was popular along the lake here. Hard to find good guys to do the work. The guy that use to do it for me said the pay scale here was double to triple the pay in the south. They work out of state a lot in the winter.

Here's where the air handler will be and that open area where the red outlining is is the laundry room.

Master bedroom where my wife is at and then the bottom arrow is our ridiculously massive walk in closet lol. the top arrow is the entrance to master bath.

Here are the kids rooms bed 1 and bed 2. The arrow on the right is the enterance to the bath 2 which also leads out to the portch. The "L" with the arrow is the laundry room.
