Hahaha I hear you! We have been packing up everything and breaking all the furniture down the last 2 weeks. We are so ready to move lol. I've got an enclosed trailer ready to drop off over half of our stuff lol.

Thanks. We cannot wait! House is packed up and ready to move already haha. Luckily we do not have a lot of stuff since we are still gathering that stuff since we are young and barely starting our lives out haha. But should be closing in 3 weeks. Estimated is the 26th I believe. But the inside is now done except for the cleaning and door knobs. Power is on and running and the AC has been tested also.

All that is left overall is:
    - drill for sprinkler well
    - lay sprinkler system and grass date for this is no later than April 13th
    - plant the trees and shrubs along with the grass
    - door handles
    - cleaning date is the 3rd tomorrow
    - screen for the porch
    - appliances

That is all I believe. We have carpet and everything else now. The garage door has its opener. Got a driveway and walkway now as well. So close I can taste it! We will be painting before we settle everything in. I'll have the wife send me pictures from Friday. Also have all toilets and sinks and tile.

Thanks everyone. We finally closed yesterday and moved in all while Florida decided to pour on us lol. But we are beyond happy and the little guy is going nuts in it lol. Nice open floor plan. Does laps around the couch in the living room hahaha.

Time to paint all of the rooms now.

    Big congratulations from here man.

I am about to buy a house myself. Hopefully we are closing on the 25th. Its the reason why I sold my mustang 6mo ago and have been driving a 12yr old SUV for the last year. So I totally understand the effort, sacrifice, and years of good decision making that goes into it. I have been teaching my kids we didn't just wake up one day and say "hmmm, I want a house now, lets get one", it took years of good decision making.

A couple of years ago me and some local guys were talking about some guys we knew from about 10 years prior. They were a group of trashy LS1 F-body guys with planet sized e-personas. One guy mentioned about how ridiculous it was watching some guy with a basic LS build who sleeps in his friends shops closet try to e-bully a guy with a career, full retirement plan, 3 cars, and a 3000sqft house over a street race.

The significance of the 3000sqft house comment never really clicked until the last couple of months searching for, getting approved for, and buying a newly finished and updated 2100sqft house in a decent neiborhood.

Thank you and boy I know exactly what you mean! What a process. Even just to find the right house or builder you want. Over a year and finally there.

I will be looking out for your thread. I prefer the house then get the car and take your time and enjoy the build. I wish I had another car as my daily and not the 3v so I can actually start on it lol. But I don't yet. Work and school every day. Day starts at 6am and ends at 9:30pm.

People don't realize all the decisions you have to make when building a house. Things that seem simple that I never thought about. Like a doorbell. When they asked me about a door bell I was like uh really. Just get a standard door bell. I guess some people are just picky about that small stuff. We went through an architect for design and layout of our home. Then hired a contractor. I remember telling my father that we did it this way and said thats ridiculous b/c they are so expensive. It actually wasn't even that bad. If my memory serves me right it was 500 to a 1000 but I honestly don't remember. I do remember my father saying he heard it was 20k. By the time we bought the land to actually finishing the house it was about 2 years. I can understand the draw to build in a subdivision. You have a few different layouts to chose from and once you pick it out then they build it. Seems like that process is pretty quick. 6 to 8 months. I believe all my friends live in some sort of a subdivision.

Were in the process of adding an outdoor tv to our covered patio. Plus we are getting quotes for an outdoor kitchen. It will be pretty basic. Doing the doors and drawers in cedar and then staining to keep cost down.

man I want an outdoor kitchen so bad. I think an outdoor kitchen in a covered patio that leads to a pool would be amazing.

my house is done btw, and we are at the point with the move that I know where 90% of my stuff is. I want to make my own thread but its been all systems go since my last post saying I got the call for the close. Had to be out of the rented house by the 31st, wife wanted 3 rooms painted before the stuff gets moved, movers dumped all our shit into huge boxes and charged us for boxes and tape after we told them to only worry about the big stuff like tables and couches, had to buy a lawnmower, had to buy a doorbell, rooms had to be clear of our stuff before new furniture arrived, I could go on.

Oh, and I still need to clear the steaming pile of shit from the old place. I had a compost heap of mostly guinea pig waste and old garden refuse I was using to fortify soil. Luckily the landlord is chill enough that he really just wants it out before he starts showing the house. I was thinking of leaving it as a gift because its literally the only thing in his back yard that can grow something besides crabgrass.

Yea man moving just really blows. I wanted to hire a company to do it but my wife insisted we could do it. We did it and our first day of moving was a long day. Our house wasn't even completely done yet but we had sold the house we were living in. Our contractor said our house would be done so we could move in. We didn't have counter tops and they had just played the carpet and finished the floors. So were able to have our new couch delivered. We unloaded our freezers in the garage and then filled them with all our meat. We slept on the couch our first night in the new home. I could go on about how much it sucked to move but it would require me to cramp up typing the story. At any rate I will never do it again. Im dying in this house. We have a pole barn thats basically full of shit. My tractor, implements, race wheels, wood splitter and basically every yard tool you can own.

Yea we said the same thing about a doorbell lol. My wife had to have the boys rooms and our room painted before anything went in the house also. So moving day in the pouring rain of Florida everything went into the garage. Finally have it all cleared out and organized and all cardboard boxes disposed of. Can now get the 3v in and the wifes new Tiguan in. I'm so anal about my lawn now lol. I'm out there every weekend just raking getting all the dead crap out and all the rain we have been getting is soaking it like crazy. But doing what I can to get this St Augustine grass to look spectacular.

That's pretty cool Snake! I never even thought of that cause I thought it would be a lot upfront. I have had a house plan I have drawn up about a year ago. If I ever want to build another or well bigger question is if I ever want to move again lol. Then I'd build this design I made but on at least an acre.

I also have a 25'x30' or 25'x35' block shed I have designed as well for when I get the lot next to me finalized. Then will clear it and get the slab poured and wait till I get more funds to do the block and down pour. Will have an office in it with an upstairs loft that will be for friends who come and stay. Will be a nice little 25'x 12' AC upstairs room with a restroom in the down stairs office.
