C Clip Direction on Rear End 2005 S281 Mustang

Does anybody know is the flat side of the C clip go toward the outside or the rounder side? I can't find 1 answer everybody says something different. Thanks!

I’d put the flat side of the C clip against the machined surface. The rounded side would face the nub end of the axle.

Thanks guys.. just so I am 100 percent..flat side would be facing the wheel and the non flat side would be closest to grenade pin

Yes, machined/flat surface faces machined surface (best fit).

I believe that is correct. If you back away a few feet you can see the driver side tube is shorter than the passenger side tube and you can’t put the clip in the long side if you stick the short axle in there.
